I’ve had chronic neck pain for a long time, degenerative discs. Chiropractic said they couldn’t help me but did offer me decompression therapy. I started looking for less expensive alternatives and found this. Even after two uses it relieved the pain. Moving the round ball in the tube(to prevent air leaking out) is unnecessary. Just open/close the valve at the pump bulb. I chose this over the over the door type. I sit comfortably in a chair and still can do other things while letting the decompression work. This product only has a single point of "closure" (the little ball thing in the tube that holds the air in)...this isn't necessarily a bad thing but for people with very short necks, I don't know if that might be an issue. The one I purchased from a local "medical device/structured pillow" type place had a separate little lock on the top chamber so that you didn't have to fully inflate that chamber if you needed less height/constriction around the face. I just received it today (but I know from experience that it helps some with my neck issues), this seems to be a well made and sturdy product. I was in a hurry when I bought it and didn't really check the reviews or even the description (my bad, lol) mostly because, it didn't even occur to me that there would be differences in the process of inflation. For me - a very short woman with a proportional neck - this seems to fit just fine and gives me the cervical stretch I need without extra bulk. Also....be careful of how you store it, the reason I had to get another one is because after a while of not using it, the tubes on the old one "mummified." I don't know if continued exposure to the oils and stuff in skin will keep that from happening, so keep an eye I on it. Good luck on your journey to ease neck pain! ... show more

I have neck issues and I ordered this. I’ve only done it a few times because I feel like I’m being choked out and as you’re pumping it up, the Velcro straps in the front become very uncomfortable and scratched you and the fact that it takes you forever to pump it up and probably be better if there is an electric one ... show more

The collar fastens with Velcro which is difficult to attach without help because they are under the chin.
