Description

"For clinical use or as an in-home tool, the NOI Mirror Box Triangle is designed to treat pain and disability in the hands or feet. It’s used for complex regional pain syndrome, phantom limb pain, stroke and focal dystonia. It’s also helpful with very common issues like arthritis in the thumb and carpal tunnel syndrome. Mirror therapy works to exercise the brain synapses and is an integral part of Graded Motor Imagery. By placing the impaired hand behind the mirror and placing the healthy hand in front of the mirror, one can trick their brain into believing the reflection of the healthy hand is actually the impaired hand. The user can then exercise the impaired hand, in the brain, by performing movements with the healthy hand. The NOI Mirror Box is advised for use under clinical guidance only. Use it within the guidelines of the GMI process as explained in The Graded Motor Imagery Handbook by Dr. David Butler, Dr. G. Lorimer Moseley, Timothy Beames and Thomas Giles. The NOI Mirror Box is collapsible for easy transport. It measures 11.75” W x 11” D x 12.5” H. "

  • Great size to allow hiding hand
Very large mirror to allow you to completely hired the affected hand/arm.

  • Improving the flexibility of my sprained ankle, but it keeps collapsing!
The neuroplasticity concept actually works! I can walk better because my sprained ankle is now bending! It was very stiff before and hurt if I tried to move it even a little bit. A top podiatrist recommended the mirror for me. Since I’m using it for my sprained ankle, I set the mirror box on the floor; unfortunately, it flattens like a pancake if my foot just lightly touches the box the wrong way! I’m constantly setting it back up. Good points: It is helping my sprained foot be much more flexible, is lightweight, collapsible for storage, and has an unbreakable mirror. Bad points: It is difficult to hide your injured foot behind the mirror at the same angle and depth as your good foot and box collapses all the time. I will be placing a small box inside the box to see if it will hold the mirror up. To help the mirror stay up, the manufacturer should add a Velcro strap to the box or lengthen the two cuts on the side of the box that the tab fits into. The product is expensive and should have a better design for overall stability. ... show more

  • Way over priced
The mirror box is mirror attached to some corrugated plastic. There can't be more than$5 in materials in it and minimal labor. It really shouldn't cost anymore than $15-$25. If you are the least bit crafty you can easily make it yourself or ask someone in your house hold to make one. As for its function, it mostly works as described. The one problem is that it had a slot cut out so it can be locked in place. The problem is that unfolding and locking it in place requires two hands. If I had two functional hands, I wouldn't need the mirror box. So overall it's an okay, over priced product. ******* Added on 2017-07-29: After using the mirror box for a couple weeks I lowered it from 3 to 2 stars. Two problems with the design have become more of an issue. The flap that holds it open collapses easily, and its frustrating to set it up again with one hand. I use it on a standard dining room table and the corrugated plastic that makes up the mirror box has no traction. While I'm using it, It keeps sliding around making it much less effective. I suppose if my arm was full strength , its weight could keep the box in place and apply some resistance, but again if I could do that I wouldn't need the mirror box. So now I need to look for some friction pads to keep it in place and some sort of way to keep it setup. It makes me wonder if the manufacturer ever had someone with a weak arm test it in a home environment. ... show more

  • Cheap material for the triangle box
The description does not state that the triangle is made of what looks and feels like cardboard with a thin plastic coating. I am very disappointed with this product and because of this issue the box is priced extremely high. It definitely is not worth $59.65. The total price of this item with shipping and taxes was $79.31. This box will break down due to the materials used. ... show more
