  • Beautifully made, appears to be quality
It arrived a day earlier than Amazon said! Initial impressions...Wonder of wonders, the Instruction Manual i...all 26 X 4 3/4 inches oft, was well written in English, and probably Chinese, too. Apparently excellent construction, including a beautifully made ball head. 44 lbs. weigt limit. Durable? Amazon info says 8 year warranty. It may outlive me! Time will tell. I've had trouble finding an affordable tripod that fit my budget and height. I am 6 feet, and my eye height is 67-68 inches. The only real reviews of the ripod were on YouTube; one fellow who said he was about the oldest blogger. We are of an age, and he is about my height. The other fellow was more talk than info, and I kept worrying whether he had checked under the log he sat on for rattlesnakes before he sat down. Sort of hard to to Tourniquet that area! With just the legs at full extension, the ball head is really above my head, and the camera eyepiece would be 3 1/2 in higher. All of my other tripods require use of the central column to reach a comfortable eye height, because I cannot stand bent over for any length of time. It's worse since I turned 75! Most of the other tripods I researched either needed a raised center column, or were excellent, but too expensive, or appeared flimsy. My tripod complete with the ball head weighs 4lb 14 ozs. and with the center column added to the scale, and 4 lb 8 ozs. with it removed. Not truly light weight...about 8 ozs. heavier than my aluminum "medium" tripod, but fairly easily carried. Can serve as a replacement for my heavy duty and medium tripods. I am at the stage of my photography where I agree with Minor White who said "Nothing more than 100 yards frm the car is interesting!" Not cheap, but won't break the bank...about 2 times what two of my photo buddies spent for their carbon fiber tripods...the ones with bright orange accents. But...I feel it will be an investment in longevity and good photography. I am pleased with my purchase! I'll update if/when new information appears. ... show more

  • NOT a “travel” tripod!!
Let’s get one thing straight - This is advertised as a “travel” tripod but it absolutely is not. It is heavy (which speaks to its stability) and it is longer than an average check-in suitcase is tall. Under NO circumstances would I market this as a “travel tripod”. That being said, it is a very nice tripod with excellent features. The knobs are all heavy duty and the ball head is both smooth and firm in its operation. I highly recommend it for those looking for functionality and sturdiness, but stay away of you are looking for light-weight and compactness because it is neither of those things. ... show more

  • Don't fall for all the same orange/red ones, FINALLY a great tripod under 300! Superb ballhead, legs
One of the best camera related purchases I've made in 3 yrs, and no doubt the best tripod. Please, if you care considering any of those orange/red ones you see daily, don't do it. I was hesitant about the brand, but I'm telling you the quality can be felt instantly, and it has lasted several months flawlessly. Highly recommended! ... show more

  • Nice fairly lightweight tripod
I purchased this tripod primarily for use in nature photography. I’m 6’3” and wanted a tripod suitable for my height. I also wanted a sturdy tripod but one that was also easy to transport. The narrow profile when closed was therefore one feature that was attractive to me. When the tripod arrived, I was a little taken aback. The tripod was slightly smaller than I anticipated and the ball head in particular looked puny. However, after setting up the tripod with my Nikon D7500 and Tamron 70-200mm f2.8 lens, which is a moderately heavy combination, I have found both the tripod and the ball head to be sturdier than they initially appeared. I am also pleased with the smaller size of the unit when folded and feel, overall, that it will meet my needs. (Incidentally, it is more than adequate for my height)! Before I set up this tripod with my camera and zoom lens, I considered returning it to upgrade to a larger tripod. At this point, however, I don’t really feel I need the additional size along with the accompanying weight and bulk since my Tamron lens is the largest, heaviest lens I own and I don’t want to spend the thousands of dollars more that it would cost to buy the mega lenses usually pictured on the larger tripods. I am not a professional photographer and simply can’t justify the cost of that equipment. The quality of the tripod seems to be excellent. The ball head is also nicely made, operates smoothly, and seems quite sturdy. But I am not sure how well such a small ball head will hold up over years of use. I deducted one star for this. That may not be fair, but it is what it is. I also included in my point deductions the very feature that in part drew me to this tripod in the first place; it’s very narrow profile when folded. The reason I did so is because there is a downside to this convenience in that the legs splay out from a very narrow area at the top of the tripod rather from a broader area as can be seen on many other tripods that are wider at the top when folded. This is particularly noticeable when the tripod is used without the legs being fully extended and seems to me to result in less clearance between the legs to accommodate photographer movements. This is not a deal breaker for me, but it is a trade-off that I hadn’t considered before buying the tripod. I also note that this tripod is marketed as a “professional” tripod. I’m not aware that there are any standards for reaching this determination, but if I was a pro I would probably look for something a little more heavy duty, as least if this was going to be my primary tripod. For an advanced amateur, however, this is a very nice tripod that seems to be heavy enough for all but large camera and lens combinations. Despite a few minor nit-pics, I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend it to non-professionals who want a quality tripod at a modest price and who don’t need the additional weight and bulk required to hold very heavy equipment. ... show more

  • I Love It!
This tripod is the perfect tripod for me. I am 6’ tall and spent months looking for the perfect tripod. Well since there is no such thing as perfect, this one definitely comes close. I recommend you spending time adjusting the legs to find your height before you go out in the field. If you are going to shoot in portrait mode you should use the extension pole so the camera gets the clearance needed from the legs. I like having the full mobility needed when you shoot in portrait mode because you can use it like a gimbal in the field. I will add to this review at a later date. Just so you know, I can still raise my camera another 18” higher in the picture shown. The camera is set at my eye level. ... show more
