I bought these to replace some knives that are several years old and just not keeping an edge. Two steaks after a fresh sharpen with my old ones and I felt like I was trying to use a plastic knife again. The Cangshan have been a significant improvement. I cook a lot of veggies and meats and the set has everything I need no problem. Haven't had to sharpen them once yet in almost 2 months. The blade are very sharp which is actually safer for cutting and the handles look very attractive. I thought the white would look good but it looks REALLY good next to fresh white linens. Cleaning them is simple and I've been very pleased. I also really like being able to put the knives away in a drawer with small children around, instead of on the counter like the usual blocks require. ... show more

These knives are pretty awesome! I really, really like them. There is a knife for all your kitchen needs. Excellent quality and craftsmanship. Beautiful in appearance and they arrived polished and sharpened. They have an excellent weight to them. Each knife is weighted perfectly for it's intended purpose. They fit nicely in my hand, my spouse's hand, and my adult son. We all love using these knives. I have thrown out all the other knives we have in favor of these. I also love the knife block. It fits in my kitchen drawer. It takes up the whole drawer, but it works nicely because the block isn't taking up counter space. The knives tuck nicely into the block and the block fits perfect in the drawer and they are out of the way but so handy to get back to. I love having a sexy, functional knife set and getting my counter space back! I don't need any other knife set with this one. I think these are great knives, but I would tend to lean toward them maybe being a tad expensive. They do seem like they would last a long while so the need to replace them anytime soon would be slim. That probably justifies the cost. ... show more

I got this as a set to keep at a camp. This is a little bit overkill for that purpose, but I also don't like to get low end stuff. These are very nice. I'm comparing them to my home knives, which are Shun, Global, and Dalstrong. I think this set is not quite as nice as any of my home knives, but it's likely all anyone would need. They feel decently heavy weight but not overly heavy. The edges are great, hopefully they stay sharp for a long time. The block is very nice, but it doesn't fit in the drawer unfortunately. Why not 5 stars? The metal of the blade has "ridges" in it that I'm not used to seeing in knives. You can't feel them, but you can see it. I'm not sure what it is, I guess tooling marks from when they are made. I've had from really cheap all the way up to very expensive, the only other knives I've seen them on were made by Cold Steel and a pretty cheap set. It may just be the type of steel, I don't know. But it makes them look a little cheaper to me. ... show more

We replaced our older knives with this set. These knives look beautiful and are nicely organized in their holder. They are extremely sharp and cut through everything with ease and precision. I hand wash and dry them so they’ll stay nice. We are very pleased with this and highly recommend them.

This is a great knife set. There are several different styles that I'm not familiar with but I'm sure I'll get used to them. These knives are extremely sharp and the included drawer style knife block is an added bonus. The knife block has a spot for every knife which protects the blades. The bamboo tray fits nicely in the drawer, making the knives accessible to my prep area but out of the way. Unfortunately they are so beautiful that I hate hiding them in the drawer!
