I'm very pleased with this purchase. This knife set is a bit expensive, but it's worth the money if you are looking for sharp knives that will last a long time. The built-in sharpener works really well, and the knives are easy to clean. I wash them and immediately dry them/put them back in the sharpening block after I use them (to avoid an accident) since they are very sharp. Be extra careful when using them. Very happy with this set. Based on the reviews from others, we’ve been careful to dry immediately after hand washing and have seen zero issues with early corrosion in the 1st 3 months. Out of the box, the chopping and slicing knives are very sharp, and they have good mass (my wife says they are a little too heavy for her liking). The sharpener in the block is effectively the fine/polishing bars from a knife sharpening block. It keeps the knives honed, though I tend to insert a few times when storing to make sure the polishing happens. I have sharpened the most used knives a couple times, but more out of habit to do that regularly than a real need for them to be sharpened. The knife block itself leaves a little to be desired. As many have complained, the exterior can be damaged easily. I sprayed it with a polyurethane clear coat to try and delay some of that wear/tear and I’m still in the habit of inserting knives carefully to not damage the block. I’m sure as time goes on, we’ll damage it plenty. At some point, the Gray could be sanded down and it could be re-stained. The knife block quality doesn’t match the knife quality in my opinion, but it’s not terrible. I’ve still given the set a 5 star rating based on the knives. I love these knives. They cut super well and stay super sharp. The only "issue" I noticed was that some of the blades had oil marking on them. That's not an issue for me but might be for some. Overall, though, excellent knives.

These knives are great looking and the block is the same color as the countertop. My wife loves them...she picked them out. I like the self-sharpening feature so I'm hopeful it keeps them sharp.

Love the Calphalon Knife Set with self-sharpening block. They are great quality, and the Knives are always sharp, the variety of knives is great, and they are easy to hold and use. I got the stainless-steel handles and love them. Wish I had made this purchase years ago. Just love it!

I bought this set for my sister last year around Christmas. They have some weight to them, and I loved the self-sharpening feature. These knives never seem to dull, and the quality is amazing. I will be buying some for myself!

If you are not used to very sharp knives proceed with caution. I’m used to using sharp knives and one got me. It was just a slight superficial cut but they are impressively sharp and sharpening block keeps them sharp
