Evaluating pool robotic cleaners has become somewhat of a hobby for my spouse and me, and this Beatbot AquaSense A is one of the best we've had the privilege of testing. At first, we were concerned that it wasn't working correctly since it seemed to go about its business in a very uncharacteristic pattern compared to other cordless pool robot cleaners. However, as our months-long evaluation ended, we realized this robot did a more thorough job than any other bot. Typically, when using the other bots, some very fine particles would eventually settle on the pool floor, gathering in the corners and along the pool's walls, necessitating additional clean-up with a cordless hand-held pool vac. But not with the AquaSense. In the many years we've had our swimming pool, we've not had a cleaner pool floor, walls, and water line. The bot is super easy to operate. I don't find the phone app especially helpful, except it updates the bot's software when I open it. Cleaning the debris basket(large compared to some bots) is about as easy as it gets. Charging is a snap with the charging cradle. I do think a cradle that you can mount in the pool that has magnetic charging would absolutely put this one over the top for the price of this bot. Conclusion: After completing our evaluation of this cordless robot pool cleaner, I can see why it has garnered so much publicity in swimming pool forums. However, as good as it is, it's not perfect, but it's pretty darn close. The question I always ask myself is, did it exceed my expectations? We've loved our Rhomba indoor vacuum cleaner ever since we got one a few Christmases ago, so when robotic pool cleaners became available, I had to try them out. What I found is that some had wheels and some had tank tracks. They all claimed to be "smart" but in the end, the results seemed pretty random to me. I have a 24' round above ground pool that's about 10 years old. Unlike in-ground pools, the bottom is heavy duty vinyl, so its not unusual to have roots grow underneath. The unevenness can mess with cleaning and can be a problem for some bottom cleaners. What I've found is the bottom crawlers with wheels get stuck. So when I saw the Beatbot A100, it looked like a good replacement for my tired Dolphin E10 and its disintegrating electrical cord. This monster has tractor wheels that can handle the hills and valleys of my older above ground pool bottom. It's rechargeable and can run up to three hours before shutting down. That's almost twice as long as its predecessor. It even comes with a cordless charging dock for plug-free charging. Best of all, it's got a fancy mapping system and wall climbing -- this monster picks up everything that's sitting on the bottom. It has a powerful suction and a large catch basket that can handle larger debris and the finer stuff too. It's crazy how smart this machine is. It actually maps your pool, optimizes the cleaning path, and even figures outs where the steps are and navs around them. And it gets smarter after a couple of uses. It has an app, but you don't need the app to use the vac. It's useful looking at the history, how much time it took on the floors, the walls, etc. The only real downside is the weight, it's really heavy! But there's no real way to design a vac with batteries and scrubbers as large as these that does what this one can do at a lighter weight. Just shows the quality of the design build and components. It will float along the water line for awhile which helps to pull out. Fortunately, it comes with a hook too. To make a long story longer, I'll just say I've tried the smart bots and was disappointed. This one actually lives up to its name. You can spend less...a LOT less. But for dependability this sweeper has plenty of capability and it's built by Beatbot, the smartest brand I know of. ... show more

    • Easy to use, low maintenance, but won't filter small particles

This is very easy to use, if a little bit heavy to get in and out of the pool. The filter basket is easy to clean. I barely use the app, it basically just says how long it took to clean and remind me to put thr filter back in. The only real downside is that the 150 micron filter doesn't catch small particles, it just moves them around. So the pool will look cloudy after every cleaning. Then a couple hours later those small sand/dirt/debris will settle back the bottom. It would be great if there was an optional filter that could go down to 50 microns, which would catch those fine particles of sand and dirt. I use it in the multi zone mode and in that mode it works very well. It picks up from leaves to fine sand and helps keep algae under control. I thinks its dual brushes agitate algae enough so that it is killed by chlorine. My pool has never been cleaner and the bot is easy to use. The charging stand is convenient. I wish it would park itself on the surface like the Pro does, but I wouldn’t pay double the price for that feature. ... show more
