Description

The Polaris 9450 Sport provides best-in-class cleaning performance and features. With Vortex Vacuum Technology that enables extraordinary cleaning power without losing suction, the 9450 Sport tackles any pool terrain and climbs over obstacles without getting stuck. The 9450 Sport cleans all pool surface types and scrubs the floor, walls, and tile line with a pleated scrubbing brush. This machine has an all-purpose filter canister that has 4 times the capacity of other similar cleaners. That means fewer filter cleanings (up to 70% less), and lower operating costs (pennies per day). By engineering the machine with top access large capacity filter canister, debris can easily be emptied with a simple shake and spray convenience. Never touch debris again! The 9450 Sport is the only Polaris robotic to feature a new 7-day programmable timer, with fully customizable cleaning cycles. Simply set it and forget it. And, its ActivMotion Sensor allows the cleaner to automatically sense its position in the pool and adapt its path for optimized cleaning while reducing cord tangling. The 9450 also includes a NEW lift system. With the touch of a button the 9450 surfaces to a desired location and waits for you to grab it, then automatically evacuates water for effortless removal from the pool. The 9450 Sport cleans pools up to 50' in length. It weighs just 16 lbs and includes a new premium, compact transport caddy that can be assembled without tools. Model is backed by a 2 year limited warranty.

  • Wonderful!
Much better than the previous Polaris pool bottom cleaner. We live in Dallas and have 10 trees around the property and privacy screens from prying neighbors and lush landscaping. Every month there is new debris that gets into the pool. Leaves that fall depending on the season, pollen, crepe Myrtle berries, oak tree germination deposits, summer bugs, etc. We got a variable pump to filter the water so the debris stays in the skimmers, but there is still some debris that falls to the bottom of the pool. The pebbled surface of the pool lasts longer than traditional plaster, but it does allow for debris to get trapped between the pebbled surface. The family that designed and built the house were really pros. One of the design particulars was that the pool is positioned so it gets morning, afternoon and evening sun, making it an enjoyable sunny pool experience. The flip side is that in the summer the debris that didn’t get picked up by the previous Polaris machine, decomposed and caused algae to grow, especially during the hot Texas summers and was a menace to get rid of. Last year we had to drain and fill the pool the algae was so out of control. We had to get a better system due to the day-long desired exposure to sunlight the pool was designed for because the debris left over created algae. Once out of control, it was nearly impossible to eliminate. We spent a fortune on chemicals and it had to be monitored constantly. When we’re on an extended vacation and when we returned, the algae had taken over. So we needed a better solution. The new Polaris machine was the answer. Our water is crystal clear now and no extra shock or other chemicals are needed now. Back-washing the filter has much less frequency, more than half reduced. It is a stand alone mechanism not tied to the filter system, which is unfortunate, but it doesn’t need a separate pump and climbs walls and even cleans the tile at the water surface. It also has a programmable daily cycle so it can work while you are gone, but we haven’t tried that yet. It works so well it needs to be emptied more often than the other model we had but that means it is working well. It’s expensive, but so are chemicals or manually cleaning the bottom in addition with the old Polaris machine we were using, so the algae stays away in our rather large 30,000 gallon pool, that has lush landscaping and all-day exposure to the sun. What a relief! Problem solved and I would recommend it even though it is a stand alone mechanism and your Polaris pump will be deemed obsolete. Well worth the extra cost. And the peace of mind it provides is, well, “Priceless”! Problem solved. ... show more

  • Keep the cord untangled
I have had a pool for 35 years and I have gone through several Polaris pool cleaners, all of them were good, but this is the best. It’s a monster. Very little assembly required and operation is really simple. Cleans bottom and sides like a champ.

  • Works better than anything else - for 2 years
The Polaris sport 9000 series with 4wd is the best system on the market for cleaning. For durability, don’t expect more than 2-3 seasons. I had the Polaris back pressure system beforehand - which I think does almost nothing. I got a sport 9550 and it was a vast improvement. It worked great for 2 seasons and the cable went bad and one of the drives broke. So, the cost was almost $500 to fix, so I bought a new one. I got 2.5 seasons, it broke, and I got another. After the third broke after 2 seasons, I switched to 9450 because all of the programming features I find unnecessary and the “remote control” drive is a joke and a gimmick that sounds great until you see it does not work well at all. And the programming, if you intend to burst your basket, keep the Polaris in for a week on the program. If you want the basket to stay clean of leaves, debris and DE and all other stuff…. You should take it out, clean it and hose it down once per day. I do that. I have switched to the Remington SUN SHOCK (2 - I have a 28,000 gallon pool) and my chlorine consumption has gone down by 75% (I bet it could go more, but I am keeping a little more than necessary) and I shock the pool once per month (rather than 1-2 times per week). The pool is super clear water. I suspect that this should lengthen the life of this unit. Chlorine kills these things. So, if you invest in one of these and need quite a bit of chlorine (I used to go through 6 3” tabs per week with a 10 tab chlorinator) - I recommend you also get the Remington solar sun shock if you have an outdoor pool. I love those things. I also have a solar breeze nx2 solar skimmer. So, I try to keep the pool as clean as possible with machines. Anyway.., if you really think programming is important on a daily schedule, 9550 and up is better. If you know it’s more important to clean the unit daily amd than just set a 1.5 to 3.5 scrubbing length , then get the 9450. It’s really all need. I know. I’ve owned 3 9550’s at this house and 1 9450. My parents, the same. Brothers, the same, vacation homes - we all did the same. And we also all switched to Remington solar shock. ... show more

The dang cord keeps tangling its self in a twisty tangle. You have to go untangling it every hour. Does a great job cleaning when untangled but it's a pain called Polaris and did every dang thing they recommend still in 80 degreee weather it still tangles. Its as bad and my Samsung ice maker. POS. Stress free heck no just a piece of Thousand dollar crap. Do not buy this. Polaris won't help ... show more

  • Does a good job
I bought the Polaris cleaner late this summer when my maytronics cleaner quit. I’ve used the Polaris 4 times before writing this review. Polaris does a good job cleaning the Pool bottom but misses corners. You still have to sweep the corners out so the cleaner can reach the debris. I also bought the Polaris because it has wheels not tracks. I fought the tracks coming off my last cleaner starting 3 yrs after I bought it. So I wanted wheels this time around. The cleaner will clean the pool side walls but not completely. It won’t travel along the wall water line like my old unit did. Rather the Polaris goes mainly up and down the wall and misses some places. I like the recall feature where the cleaner will come to you so you can easily retrieve it out of the pool. I would of given it a 5 rating accept for the lack of cleaning the walls and corners well. Update: I decided to send the pool cleaner back. It just didn’t clean the pool well enough. Left debris in the corners and missed a lot of dirt on the pool bottom even after I ran it 3 times one afternoon. ... show more
