  • Outstanding cleaner, very durable. Six year old.
Size: 360 Model Style: Cleaner
Excellent cleaner it cleans the whole pool in about two hours. I think it’s very doable.. i’ve had my player for about six years and I noticed that one of the wheels was not as strong. I was not rotating like it. Should I purchased a kit for about $169 and when I went into it, I found that one of the belts was broken. I replaced all the new parts the wheels was very simple and easy to do ... show more

  • Easy to install
Size: 280 Model Style: Cleaner
This is our second Polaris 280, it is easy to install and cleans well. Be sure to straighten the tubing when you take out of box or it will continue to coil.

  • The new pool boy is working out well
Size: 360 Model Style: Cleaner
I inherited pool ownership several years ago when I purchased my current home (an aspect to which I was not particularly keen) The cleaning and chemical balancing which comes with that responsibility has been a journey of both intellectual learning and physical effort. I've tried a few less expensive pressure-side options (thankfully I have a dedicated jet for job) all with huge disappointments. Frustratingly, the pool has some angular geometry which seems to foil any design which relies on random patterns for coverage. While it did require some time for observation and minor adjusting, I have become a fan of the Polaris 360 for its ability to save me significant time manually cleaning debris from my pool. The design incorporates multiple facets which prevent the cleaner from becoming locked into a particular behavior; very seldom do I need to intervene with the operation. I do find that it takes much more than the advertised 3 hours to fully clear the pool, but we do have some large trees overhead which probably make our pool more of a compost pit than others. Pros: - With some careful initial setup and reasonable maintenance, this cleaner does a remarkable job in a somewhat difficult environment. Saves me at least 90% of my cleaning effort for algae and debris. - Works quite well on my system (1hp) without a booster pump. I can even open up other jets to balance the pressure a bit; ideal pressure seems to be around 15-17 psi. Cons: - A bit pricey (and as of this writing, the price has jumped another $80 in the past 30 days), but then pool things tend to be that way. - I highly recommend getting additional bags to keep a rotation while the filled one dries. - The tail scrubber does seem to wear quickly and require frequent replacement, and once or twice I have had to remove the tail from being sucked into the bag. Honestly, I think the stock tail works better than the TailSweep Pro. - This design does not clean the waterline. ... show more

  • Now we can accurately write a review
Size: 360 Model Style: Cleaner
We had the device now for about two weeks and this is my first report. It replaces two attempts; the first one was a Rav Vac who i hope that the company is already out of business and the second was a manual battery powered pool vacuum which worked well for one year and went silent. Now back to the Polaris. All the nuts that hold the hose sections are too short and very difficult to fit the threads on the hose. It is deep enough for hardly one thread and it took several attempt and very strong hand pressure to fit and stay. Popped out few times and I think I now got it to stay. A deeper nut design that fits several more threads can help the situation. The obvious positive about the device is that it actually cleans and picks any thing from fine dust to leaves when it passes over it. There is a problem, though, the device has two wheels on one side and one on the other which makes it always inclined to turn one way and it stops in corners until the reverse valve pulls it out. The interesting thing is it goes from end to end and stops in the same corner and the reverse valve pulls it to the same position every time, it turns the same way and it goes from end to end again in the same pattern. This means that the device does not go in random routes and virtually goes through the same routes across the pool. As I said it cleans whatever in its way but its route is almost the same all the time. one more thing, the little maneuvering hose sprays water out of the pool very frequently which makes it unpleasant to sit around the pool. I followed the instructions and added a little weight to keep it under the water for the most part. It helped. In total, it is a good cleaning device but not sure yet as to how much these problems can be accommodated. Update: Now that we have the cleaner for a while we can firmly reduce our rating from the previous three stars to one. It is a flawed design. I can list a lot of problems but will limit it to the important ones. First of all the little hose that wags to make the motion random wags very well but it has a very similar function to a dog tail. It wags but the dog goes in the same direction. It does not do anything. This means that the device motion is not really random at all. In fact I can draw the motion from one end of the pool to the other inch by inch and it is very consistent.. So, the end that has a couple of small steps that are vertical (like all steps) serves the device very nicely as a break which lasts about 80% of the time at least leaving it to move to the other end for the other 20% of the time. That means it is 25% efficient at best. One may say so what? when the device stays and stuck at the same point for so long, it rubs the wheels in the floor which results in a very rapid wear and tear. The people at Leslie's pool suggested some plastic pipes or something to block it from going to those places. I tried that and it gets stuck on that too. The bottom line is, the way the motion and the shape of the front makes an awkward device that is farthest from a hydro dynamic shape. I strongly recommend against it. ... show more

  • My last Polaris 280 lasted 15 years!!
Size: 280 Model Style: Cleaner
I'm not joking when I tell you that I just ordered a new polaris 280 to replace one I bought 15 years ago. The thing is built like a tank and works great. Yeah the last couple years I could tell it probably wasn't working quite as effectively as when brand new, but here's the thing: at 15 years old it was still cleaning my pool ok! I only replaced it because it just seems time, but if I had to guess I would say at 15 years old it was still doing about 85% as good as a brand new one. I see a lot of people on here mentioning buying a new one every 4-5 years. I guess I'm the outlier that made it last 15, but I've been very happy with this cleaner. ... show more

Size: 360 Model Style: Cleaner
Tried a robotic cleaner, but really got tired of charging the battery and then only could use the robot when pump is off for 3 hours. Too much hassle. Now with this inline vacuum, it runs automatically whenever the pump runs and picks up dirt, leaves, just about anything. Where the robot cleaner got stuck, this one move on with ease. The best pool vacuum by far ! ... show more
