  • Better than the others!
I have had 2 different robots from one of the other major brands. I was satisfied but not overly impressed. I bought this to replace a 2 year old $1400 unit from the other brand. It broke (again), and even though it's under warranty I'm tired of messing with it and waiting for shipping back and forth. Now on to this one. The Polaris immediately impressed me with it's ability to climb and clean stairs, it's thoroughness in the pool, and ease of use. it's not cheap, but it's less than a pool company and it works very well. ... show more

  • Great robot cleaner
Received item yesterday great instruction manual. Caddy easy to assemble. I live in Florida have a screen enclosure had been using a regular zodiac pool vacuum with hose worked fine but if folks come over I’d have to take it out and break down the hose and diaphragm would crack every so often and those things are pricey. I put this bad boy in and it does the job. Quiet the 4wd is awesome and the cord doesn’t get tangled. I have a good size pool with a spa and there’s plenty of cord left over. Small issue hooking up app but I went On U Tube and got it up and running. I’ll more than likely put it to clean pool every 2 days. Like I said I have an enclosure so I don’t get hardly any debris in my pool. It’s worth the $. ... show more

  • Great while it works; delays and broken replacement parts when it doesn't
Bought the 9650iq in December. First used it in the pool in February. At first, it was great! Seemed to do a reasonably good job cleaning things. The app isn't the best, but it does fine. In July, I started having the E10 error. I took it to a warranty service center that Polaris suggested, and it took a full 2 months to get it back. There was a slight delay due to the shop backlog, but the primary issue was simply waiting for parts. The shop said the wait is a common issue with Polaris, made worse by the fact that the first order of replacement parts had a non-functional part, resulting in yet another order and wait… They ended up replacing the motor, head unit, and cable. Eventually, I did get it home. This time, a completely different issue popped up: the right drive wheels weren't being driven -- they just spin freely. I don't know if it ever worked after getting it back since this isn't the most immediately obvious issue, but if it did work, it didn't work for long. I tried to drop it off at the same warranty spot, but I was told it was a 3-4 week wait just to look at it, plus whatever time it would take for Polaris to send in parts (probably an additional 1-2 weeks, assuming the first order of parts even work). I tried calling Polaris, but they held firm that I take it in for another repair rather than replace the unit. Even if I'm able to get to a fully working unit this time that doesn't break again within a few months, spending over a grand for something that will work for MAYBE half of my first season, if I'm lucky, is pretty unacceptable. I'll definitely be hesitant to buy another Polaris product because of this experience. ... show more

  • Amazing Cleaner
I will preface this by saying I hate brushing my pool and my pool needs it to keep the algae at bay. This is our 3rd vacuum. The first was whatever the pool company gave us, it was bare bones and only cleaned the bottom marginally. The 2nd was similar to the polaris but died less than 3 weeks in, returned that promptly. The Polaris has been a dream. It picks everything up(we have an extremely messy river birch and also brushes the bottom and walls. No bit of algae in sight. This could all be in my mind but I feel like I may be using less chlorine as well as this thing has kept my pool so clean. This little robot is worth every penny. It’s super easy to use, I have not been able to get the app to work but I don’t feel I even need that function. I just turn it on when I put it in the pool anyway. This is a must have for your pool. ... show more

  • Solid Choice Overall
I "bit the bullet" and bought the Polaris 9650iQ Sport after doing a lot of research and getting frustrated with consistently trying to keep my pool clean as we transition from the winter months into spring (lots of tree and foliage activity wrecking havoc on the cleanliness of my pool). Overall the robot performs well, I am not sure if it's worth the price tag however, as it seems to do the same work as many other cleaners, it seems you're paying for looks and the "connected" features of the device. PROS: It really is the sleekest, most pleasant looking robotic cleaner on the market. Some manufacturers try but Polaris really nailed this. The cart that comes with the robot is amazing and has been very helpful to move when needed. The "tangle resistant" cable is also quite innovative and has worked as described. When it comes to cleaning power and the cleaning process itself, the 9650iQ is impressive. As other reviews have noted, the fine mesh of the catch bag picks up more than what the product page promises and the cleaner is strong enough to climb walls and stairs. It's smart enough to know when it is somewhere it shouldn't be (the first time I used it, it almost climbed out of the pool via the stairs but backed up when it sensed it was out of the water), smart enough to tell you when the bag is full, and does a great job cleaning the whole pool. Polaris's "Lift System" function has been very helpful getting the robot out to empty the catch bag. Emptying the catch bag is very easy, based on my research this is one of the easiest to empty catch bags in a robotic vacuum. CONS: The main con here is the value for the price, there are other cleaners that do similar things for less money. It seems what you're paying for are the "connected" features allowing you to control the robot with an app and schedule cleanings, etc. There may be other features that are "harder" to see (such as how 'smart' it actually is), but for not much more money you can buy the next model up which actively maps your pool and cleans it in a much more efficient manner, and maybe that's Polaris's play here, not sure. Further, I am not impressed with the function of the app. It is supposed to show the temperature of the pool, I've yet to see that anywhere despite following several instructions provided both with the unit and what I have found in Google. Scheduling is limited to whatever you set the main cleaning setting to. Meaning, you can't say "Monday at this time do the whole pool, and Wednesday at this time just do the floor, and Thursday at this time just do the waterline." You can only tell it what day and time to start. So it still involves manual intervention no matter how you look at it. Connectivity has been unstable, with the Wi-Fi connection sometimes dropping even though other devices in the same spot as the control unit receive plenty of signal. And lastly using the Lift System from the control unit rather than the app is not as easy as the instructions make it seem. The 9650 iQ Sport is a solid choice. I would recommend it, as long as you don't mind spending the money. ... show more
