We have an older fiberglass pool. We moved in two years ago and the pool had a wheeled creepy driven by suction if the pump. It was always getting stuck, clogged and barely worked. We have a big tree that drops needle leaves, pods and pollen all spring. I finally bought this because a review online said it handled big debris the best and we had a good sand filter for the finer stuff. Combined with a new automatic chlorinator, our pool is clean and blue every day. Pros: 1. No cords or hoses. Our old one was always getting disconnected by the kids and I really didn’t want an electrical cord coming out of the pool all the time. 2. Gets everything with a big basket. If I empty it every other time it runs, I’ve never filled it up even though it gets 5 to 10 pounds of debris. 3. Charges fast and runs fast. I wish I had a fancy self dock in my pool like my roomba, but at least I can pull it out of the pool in the morning and it will have charged in a couple hours, and I can put it in the pool with enough time to run it by the time kids are home from school. 4. Scrubbers clean algae of the bottoms well and any walls it can reach. Cons 1. Only get one run per charge. Even if I say floor only. Would like it if it ran half as long and I could get two runs. 2. Can’t navigate weird steps or walls at all. We have a weird half width step around 3/4 of the pool about a foot off the bottom. It’s annoying in general but it also means the clean never cleans the walls because it gets stuck. So I still do more wall sweeping than I’d like. Bonus Every time you drop it in, it’s like launching your own personal submersible probe, so that’s fun. Overall This was a lot to spend for something that I was new tech. I had an early roomba that was a pain and I was very worried. But we barely used our pool last year even after spending lots of time every week cleaning it. So I was desperate but couldn’t afford to build a new pool (or hire someone to clean our pool every day). So far this year we’ve been in almost every day since I got the cleaner. The media could not be loaded. I was so excited to have a cordless robotic vacuum for my pool but it just didn't work. I tried it 5 times hoping I had done something incorrectly or my pool was still too dirty from just being opened. I tried each setting, walls, floor, and all and the machine did the same thing every time. It went to the deep end and found a corner to hang out in. It did vacuum what was in that corner but it did not complete the job it was meant to perform. When I put it on the wall setting, it washed and scrubbed about three feet of wall. Once it got to the corner that is where it stayed, going up and down in the same spot. I took it back to the shallow end when it was on wall and floor setting and it just went back to the same corner on the deep end and stayed there. When I cleaned the basket I was happy to see that it had gotten some finer debris so I hand vacuumed my pool and tried it again. Same problem. This time, I could see the bottom of the pool and there was not enough debris to hinder the vac. I called the company and although they were very nice they were unable to answer why the vacuum was not completing the task. I asked if others had any similar issues and sadly, I was told yes. I really wanted this vacuum to work but it just was not meant to be. The size, shape, access to clean is wonderful and it had a full charge in 90 minutes. My pool size is 15,000 gallons, 16 x 32 and the deep end is only about 6 feet deep. I had to return it. ... show more

We have had a Seagull Pro for 1 1/2 years now and couldn't be more pleased. So happy too because we don't want to ever use a Polaris with hose model again and rarely have to scrub the pool. This cleans the pool great and if it doesn't, Aiper has stepped up and fixed 2 problems admirably. Recently I had to send my unit back and in just 2 days I had a replacement. Keys to good results: 1. USE DAILY! Nature never rests...24/7 dumping dirt, leaves, pollen, bugs in the pool; 2. CLEAN THE AIPER FILTER AFTER EVERY USE, sometimes more! It will not operate properly with a dirty filter because the unit filters the water before the motor. If our pool gets dirty or algaed, I have to clean the filter several times in that 1 cleaning period - it is that critical. A dirty filter causes erratic behavior; and 3. BE NICE. Answer cordially and respectfully to Aiper reps and they will will take care of you. Yes, they might have a foriegn accent but don't we all have an accent? The cost of a good, thorough cleaning is the Aiper hanging up on obstacles that protrude, like the pool drain. Quit complaining and take advantage of this opportunity: design and produce a flat replacement drain cover that cures this problem. We recently rewarded their outstanding service and product by buying the Aiper S1 Surfer/Skimmer to add that element to our uphill fight against nature. OUR POOL: 40+ years old, 40,000+ gallons with steep slope (3' to 9' depths) in central Texas in the open surrounded by trees, weeds and plants and, for half the year, a 300+ purple martin colony.
