Top Amazon Reviews

🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The Dolphin Robotic Pool Cleaner promises to revolutionize pool cleaning, offering significant time savings by taking care of all the hard work. Reviews note that the product is particularly effective in thoroughly cleaning the floor of various types of pools. However, the robot may not always reach the waterline or successfully clean stairs, and requires routine maintenance to keep it running optimally.

Pros

  • 🏊‍♂️ Excellent suction, capable of picking up a significant amount of dirt and silt from the pool floor.
  • 🕙 Saves considerable time, as there is no need for manual vacuuming.
  • 🔌 User-friendly – no assembly needed, simply plug it in and it's ready to clean.
  • 💼 Comes with three filters for different cleaning needs.

Cons

  • 🧗‍♀️ Struggles to reach the waterline and clean stairs, as advertised.
  • 🧹 The fine mesh filter requires regular cleaning, adding to maintenance time.
  • 💰 High price point.

Should I Buy It?

If you're willing to spend a little extra time on maintenance and a premium for the convenience of not having to manually clean your pool, the Dolphin Robotic Pool Cleaner could be a great investment. While it may not be a complete replacement for poolside cleaning, it effectively handles the majority of the work and should effectively maintain your pool cleanliness with regular use.

  • Two Years Strong, Better than my former pool service and paid for itself after 9 months!
Still working strong and as effective two years later! I picked this pool robot over other options because it had a solid combination of features and reasonable price. The wall-climbing feature with tile-scrubbing is a must-have and amazing feature for me. I didn't need the more fancy features like bluetooth or smart-mapping in other models, mostly because I run the robot for as long as I need, and it doesn't bug me that it goes over the same spot a few times in the process. The randomized "wandering" program is well-balanced; spending enough time to run in straight lines down the length of my rectangular pool versus other times where it makes a couple of turns. There's some kind of logic and randomization with detecting its orientation going up walls which means it's not really predictable. That adds to the fun watching it roam. Absolutely no question- buy the caddy. I can't imagine lugging it around without one. The remote control is overpriced but sometimes useful for redirecting the robot to a specific spot, before pulling it out of the water. My only criticism of the unit is that the filter basket is on the underside, and there's really no way to remove it for cleaning without getting a little bit wet. But, I'm not a cat, so it's okay. The unit *is* a bit heavy when you pull it out of the water, mostly because of the weight of the water still inside it. If you have a shallow shelf or steps in a place where you can gently drag the unit so it's resting closer to the surface, that makes it a lot easier to extract. Cleaning the filters is easy, but I found that it's even easier if you let the filter basket dry out overnight if you live in a dry area like a desert. Then the dried out leaves and debris is a lot easier to spray off the mesh filters the next day. Using a medium-strong spray nozzle setting works pretty well. It doesn't take more than a couple of minutes to spray out the filters. Again, you're going to get a little bit wet, but it's not a big deal. I haven't had to replace any parts yet, though I noticed my robot lost some suction one day. It turned out to be a bit of stringy-palm debris that had wound itself over the upper blowhole on the robot, interfering with the motor there. After I cleared the debris, all was back to normal. The power usage of the robot is very low. It doesn't seem to pull more than about 175 Watts at a time, maybe less, from the AC power. Compared to the cost of a pool service, this robot is a dream. Although it doesn't do the extra work of balancing chemicals or cleaning the filter, it does a great job cleaning the pool floor and walls. I can't resist commanding the robot to start feeding whenever I start him up. He's my pool hero. ... show more

  • works like a charm!
This pool cleaner is FANTASTIC!! I totally recommend. I decided after 3 failing pool companies I was going to clean my pool instead of having a pool cleaning service. Due to arm issues I cant brush my pool so after a ton of research I decided to purchase the Dolphin and it's the BEST DECISION! After just one cleaning my pool looks amazing. It's worth every penny! Highly recommend! ... show more

  • UPDATE- one year after purchase EXCELLENT
1 YEAR AFTER PURCHASE- Works as well as when it was new. Even climbs walls as well as new. No problems whatsoever. Very glad we also bought the cart for it, despite the price. Our experience with the Dolphin Premier pool robot has been excellent over the 2 months we’ve had it. (Mild climate. We use it in ‘winter’.) If you’re thinking of buying or wondering how best to use it, see the youtube video of 22 minutes by Rick Escalante. I viewed many. This is the one to watch. As he recommends, be sure to purchase the Maytronics universal caddy to store it and move it around. It isn’t cheap at $150, but it’s worth every penny. The filters being accessed from the bottom of the unit isn’t a problem. Because the water flow is up, through the machine, the filter placement is very effective, and the upward jet helps the unit keep better downward pressure for contact. The unit won’t eliminate all your labor – you still need to brush the steps and probably the corners if the pool is rectangular, as well as doing the pool tests of the water. (And I still use a net on a pole to remove the worst stuff on the bottom before starting the unit. We haven’t tried the leaf bag yet.) But you won’t be brushing the sides and bottom of the pool, and you won’t be vacuuming it by hand through the pool pump’s suction. My back greatly welcomes the change. The unit performs as advertised: it climbs walls without a problem, cleans the waterline (be sure to extend one of the float balls on the handle), doesn’t tangle the cord, and moves to cover our entire pool without a remote control (Gunite-concrete pool about 24’ x 16’; I can’t comment about larger pools). Our only potential concerns after 2 months of use: (1) service life long-term. I don’t know. (2) Several reviews by users comment on problems getting service under warranty. I don’t know. Buying a different robot from a local pool store would probably minimize this issue if they have servicing capability, but after thorough research we decided on the Dolphin Premier even though we bought it online (from an authorized seller through Amazon). The unit is that good. (3) I can imagine the propulsion tracks and climbing rings needing replacement in the future. I have no idea how long from now. But the numerous, informative servicing videos online at youtube and maytronics.com show this to be a do-able project. ... show more
