    • More complicated than I expected

This turned out to be a much bigger project than I expected, and frankly, a little over my head. I did read that the light strip did not come with a power supply, and that it needed a 24 v power supply. So I purchased a 24 v power supply to go with it. But I wanted the ability to be able to turn the lights on and off without having to unplug them. So I also purchased a dimmer switch. But when I tried to hook it all up, then I realized that to use a dimmer switch, you need a dimmable power supply, which I did not buy, and which is much more expensive. In the meantime, I did try to just hook up the lights to the power supply I bought to see if they would work, which involved screws and wires. It wasn't just plug and play. But I thought I did it right. And when I plugged it in, the light strip lit up for just a second. Then went out. So maybe I didn't do it correctly after all. As I said, I think I got in over my head. I am returning the power supply and dimmer switch I bought for now, and I may have to rethink the whole project before I buy another power supply and switch. I think I need help. For now, I would say, be sure you know what you're doing if you buy this tape light strip. ... show more

I was excited by the lighting because I thought it would be fun to showcase some of our fun things we display in our home. When I opened the package, which by the way, I was super pleased with because it was an anti-static bag. The instructions were really detailed and thorough that I realized that this wasn't going to be a plug and play toy. You do need some sort of power supply. Knowing absolutely nothing about electricity and connecting things, I asked if my husband could be there in case I messed up something. I was able to follow the instructions to connect the strip to a battery. The lights were bright and they stuck well to the surface. Like many other reviewers, I mistakenly assumed this came with a power supply. The upside is, I have a few boxes of hopes and dreams, er I mean items for projects I needed dug into. I ended up having a similar system with an additional power supply. I installed this over my kitchen cabinets where there was an existing but dated, rope light. I got this for my kitchen and thought it came with power but alas it doesn't. You will need a 24V power pack and I am not sure I want a power pack on my kitchen bench, I will have to hide it somehow. I think I should have read the listing more clearly, but I got excited about the idea of LED lighting. I didn't realize that the plugs would need to be put on the wires by me. Luckily I do stuff like this at work, but could be daunting for some. It does have an adhesive backing along the entire strip. It is very thin. This is great if you are looking at these to add on to existing lighting. This kit will make it very easy. On the other hand it does not come with any power supply cord. Very bright LED and the adhesive is amazing very strong and does not let go. Be sure you want them there before applying as they do not come off very easy ... show more
