Used it for a storage unit roll up door for only one day when I accidentally dropped the lock on the ground after opening the door. Now the lock is stuck open and won't move to locked again despite the correct combo entered. Seems it should be durable enough to survive one drop onto the pavement. Someone whacking it with a hammer would be more of a shock. *** Updated review from 1star to 4star. It so easy to remember a combo. As long as you have the lock your good. With a keyed lock you need the lock and if you lose the key, you can be totally screwed. Ask me how I know. No more keyed pad locks for me.

Excellent lock. I really like the 4 digit combination lock. I WATCHED as my neighbor was teaching his kid how to pick locks. He was very successful and prompted me to buy these for my Armory etc.

This didn't really work for me. I bought it to work with my bicycle cable., but the opening was not large enough to fit both ends of the cable. It looks sturdy, but I don't know if it is since I couldn't use it for what I needed.

    • Easy to reset; heavy stainless steel
The lock feels fairly beefy, and weighs in at close to 9 3/4oz, with an overall diameter of 2 5/8." It was easy to reset its combination from the factory setting--you just turn a screw on the back a 1/4 turn and set to your desired combination of 4 numbers. I've had this design before with a different manufacturer, and I have to say the thumb dials on this one are a little harder to turn. I found it a bit stiffer to move them individually, which just means it takes longer to open the lock each time. I do like this style of lock vs. the ones you turn, because it's much easier to locate the numbers and execute the combination. The opening is 1" wide, and the inside clearance (once the lock is closed) is 5/8" x 3/4." ... show more
