My girls and I enjoy making jewelry together. We like kits like this because you get so many different things to work with. This kit stands out because of the pastel pearl beads. I seldom see them in kits and they are so pretty with the other beads. The colors in the set coordinate well so that all the jewelry we make looks good. The ring kits are a plus - another fun activity included in the kit. There are a lot of beads in this kit = many hours of play value. You will probably want to get more elastic beading cord to use all these beads! Helpful hint: Clear elastic beading cord needs to be stretched before use. It will stretch out slightly, so pre-stretching it will prevent gaps in your finished bracelets. Regarding knots, use a surgeons knot instead of a square knot - see the image. A surgeons knot has the end passed over the cord one more time. Tighten it well after you tie it. Some YouTube videos show putting a tiny dot of glue on the knot and pulling it into a bead before you trim the ends. This should make a nice permanent knot. ... show more

The beads included in this kit are brightly colored. While flexible, as clay beads tend to be, they are also very durable. The beads string together smoothly and make quality looking bracelets that even an adult would enjoy wearing. I appreciate the inclusion bracelets, they look much nicer than plainly stringed beads, and add a touch of genuine to a child's bracelet. There are boards for rings, but I didn't use them. I'm just amazed at how very nice this kit is. It's packed in a really pretty, very gift-able box; when you open it, there are lots of extras such as display cards and instructions. The storage box is well-made, with compartments for many types of clay and acrylic beads; there is a super little assortment of elastic thread, jump rings, lobster claws, metallic bracelets, and plastic rings. I just love the "bling" of the special large beads and charms (everything from seashells to unicorns to glitter rondelles). My daughter teaches in a middle school, and is always on the lookout for good "prizes" for her students, so I got this for her to see what her students thought about it. She said that they loved everything about this "Unicorn" bead kit! It comes with TONS of different colored discs, beads, charms, and lettered blocks for stringing. The students had fun making bracelets, necklaces, and rings. Both the boys and the girls enjoyed making their own jewelry. My daughter appreciated the box it came in....it has 6 plastic clasps to prevent it from accidentally opening up, and the individual compartments help keep everything organized and separated.
