I bought these to replace a cloth I had been using for years. It does a great job removing the tarnish on my silver jewelry, but I have used it to shine up the metal band on my watch that isn't silver. Be mindful of of the types of "gems" you're cleaning and be sure it's ok to use the cloth on them, especially pearls and opals to name a couple. I have some moonstone jewelry that is set in silver, and have carefully cleaned the settings/chains around the stones and they are as pretty as the day I bought them.
