  • Very short battery life. Nice features for price
I did a lot of research and eventually went for this scooter as the price point was amazing, and there was some information available online about the scooter. Most of it was paid-for reviews where they spoke about it for a few minutes making sure to note they got a free one to review. So having paid real dollery doos for this scooter. I've been using it nearly every day since then, and unfortunately, it really has some features which are neat, but there are some that drastically changed my perception of a good purchase. 1. Safety features - The brakes are nice, the electronic brake works great, it stops well. I had to adjust the rear brake cable after setting it up, and the actual connection of the brake lines to the scooter block the view of the light. Some routing fixed most of this issue. The issue with safety, for me, is the automatic cruise control that turns on with acceleration at a certain rate for 3-5 seconds, BEEPS and you can let off the throttle. Its a bit scary at first, but using the scooter daily, it was nice, sometimes annoying, and I always had to remember to throttle or brake before attempting turns ect. The part I don't like is that you cannot have anyone unfamiliar with the scooter use it safely because of the cruise control feature. I had three people ride it, and all three almost crashed because of it. They were only going at a slow speed, but if they had no idea it could be ugly. The lights, I do like, they operate well for riding, and its visible, I really do like the lighting. Safety is a 3/5 because of the cruise control. I downloaded the app, and there was no option to disable it. 2. Use and comfort - I feel one of the larger flaws is the advertised battery run time. I barely made it two miles before I was at half life. There is a small hill, but then its mostly just riding around flat parking lots, which is a lot of fun, but when you hit 50% battery life, the scooter throttles down to a max speed of 15mph. I never saw this mentioned in any videos or in the information about the scooter, but its terribly annoying to be throttled down like that. The size of the scooter is max 5'10 for a rider IMHO. I am 6'2, and it was not uncomfortable for me, but my wife said I looked very hunched over. After riding it a few miles, I did start to feel that. Its advertised as having suspension, but I cant make it cycle anything like a piston or spring if I stand on it, or anything for shocks, so its pretty much straight road feel. Sort of like those bicycles in the 90s with the fake piston shocks? The fold feature is nice, I never felt like it was going to break on me, or fold, but I also know its a hinge and did not do anything stupid with it. 2/5 - The battery life is really bad, and its really the main reason I was put off with the scooter. I cant ride it to and from work which is around 5 miles. I feel a little bad on the review, because it IS priced well, but they way it is marketed, you sort of feel like you are getting a bargain, but in reality, its a very budget minded scooter with some ease of use features. I would really only buy this as a FLAT ENTIRELY FLAT commute rider, if you are 5'10 and maybe 120 pounds. Only ever seeing reviews with fully charged scooters riding less than a mile made more sense after owning it for a few weeks. ... show more

  • Pretty Good Scooter With A Few Small Problems
I'm a sophomore at Pitt. This year, Spin scooters became the big thing - they are fun to ride and cut down on commute times to classes and for getting around Oakland in general. Me and a few friends decided to just pay to own our own scooters. After reading reviews, we settled on the Microgo M5. As of writing this, I know of 4 people (including myself) that live in my dorm and purchased this scooter. We've owned them for max one week as of writing this review. In that week - we decided the scooters were the best purchase we've made. They cut commute times and it's so much more convenient than the Spin scooters because we don't have to search the city to find one and pay for the individual ride. This week while riding, my throttle broke and the scooter started flashing "2 mph" while beeping. I emailed the support and they're in the process of sending out a new throttle still. These past two days that I've been "scooterless" has made me realize how much of a difference the scooter has made in my day to day life. Yes, these aren't perfect - as evidenced by the throttle issue I've had and have seen at least one other reviewer have the same issue, but for $400 this scooter is amazing. I could see myself upgrading to something a little more reliable with a farther range one day, but I think this is perfect for getting around and getting used to driving something like this in city traffic. While there might be a few shortcomings and problems with the scooter, this is not a purchase I regret making at all. ... show more

  • Not a bad scooter but has some issues
I bought this a couple of weeks ago. Overall its decent quality for the price. It has great power and I like the app. Would have preferred the accelerator to be the twist type instead of this thumb pushed lever. It tires my thumb on long rides. I rode it for 9.5 miles on the shitty streets of Boston and it got there with two bars on the battery. Took roughly 4 hours to charge at work at half empty to full charge Its heavy! I mean it says its 34 pounds but it seems heavier than that! Also its awkward to carry it on the bus or metro. If it had some small wheels in the back to pull it behind me like the Glion, it would have been nice. Last thing it clacks awful when hitting bumps and in Boston there aren't any roads that are smooth. So it clacks like its gonna fall apart. I know what it is. The suspension spring does not have a damper so every time the front wheel hits a pump the spring compresses and then releases the shaft back up and hit the main shaft. I would have gladly paid 50 more for them to have added a suspension damper of any sort. ... show more

  • Value scooter with awesome specs
I was a little worried about the quality of this scooter when it was purchased. Once it was put together and took it out for a few rides, I was highly impressed with it's capabilities. There's tradeoffs like the rubber wheels and very stiff front suspension, these are things that you'll have to live with when working with a scooter at this price range. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • Regrets?
The scooter doesn’t go up to 20 miles not even half just like what the other guy commented. I’d say maybe less than 10. It went down 2 bars after 3miles. Also.. do you know the sound of a non electric razor scooter, the clank sound it makes when going over a small crack on the ground. This microgo scooter makes a loud clank sound when going over something even a small little crack. So for the past two days I’ve been trying to dodge all the cracks, or metal barring on the street. This scooter would only be best for people riding it in the suburbs but not a CITY. Definitely will be contact Amazon support for false advertisement. I ended up just buying a nine-bot scooter from Costco today because I want to return this microgo. ... show more
