  • Third time’s a charm. Sort of.
Color: Satin Nickel Size: Touchscreen Style: Wi-Fi
Ordered the black suede button version of this. Spent time figuring out how to get commercial door handle off door and taking it off. Take out parts from box to install. Discover the box has no latch and no strike plate in contents. Call Yale, Yale says return to Amazon, must be a resold unit, and get another. Ok, fine. Put old handle back on door. Return box, order another. Open box. Once again, no latch or strike plate. Call Yale again to see if the box is really supposed to include them. Yes it is. Return box, order a satin nickel touchpad. Box shows up. Viola! In the small box labeled “hardware components” is the latch and strike plate. Go to install lock. Things going fine until I try to put outside door handle on. Small button won’t depress so handle can go over it. Call Yale, get transferred to tech support. Discover that the “tail” on the inside of the door needs to be vertical for the button to be pressable. Ok, I guess that’s what the image shows in the instructions but isn’t mentioned specifically. Great, button now presses and handle goes on. Whoops! Button is just slightly off center from hole and won’t pop out to lock into place. Outstanding. Get drill and make hole slightly larger. Tahdah! Button pops out. Rest of install goes fairly easily. Connects to Bluetooth no problem to set up. Lock requires 2.4 Wifi to be accessible to app on network, but I can’t get onto my network’s 2.4 g on my phone. Still working on that. So I can’t set it up to see what is going on when out of Bluetooth range. Oh, and the instructions say it will hold 25 codes or 250 if you have the wifi connector. ... show more

  • This the lock you need if you don't have a dead bolt on your door and you want HomeKit Compatible
Color: Satin Nickel Size: Touchscreen Style: Wi-Fi
This lock does the job it's meant to do. At first I had little bit of a hard time installing it until I looked at the directions (Just the door handles but once I looked at the instructions I was able to resolve that issue). This was the cheapest HomeKit compatible lock I could find (w/o a deadbolt). After installation I was able to download the app and get the lock up and running with ease. I added to it to Home App On my iPhone. I tested on the app and through the Home app and both were successful. Installation took about 30 mins but should have taken 20mins if I had read the instructions. I do like I was able to add codes I gave my parents the ability as I am pretty sure they are not gonna use the app. Other features I liked was the auto lock, I set mine for 5 mins just peace in mind knowing the door is locked even if you forget to. Activity monitor being able to see who's came in and out of the house is nice and also setting a schedule when the door can be accessed is great. There are probably other features I am missing but those are the ones I use. Only a few cons, the setup on the app took a few tries was minor inconvenience and unlocking through the home app on iPhone has a considerable delay a few seconds (on the Yale app its almost instant). Overall, I like the lock and would buy it again. ... show more

  • To any who are having trouble connecting it to the Yale Home/Access app - Use the August App!
Color: Satin Nickel Size: Touchscreen Style: Wi-Fi
Installing it is very easy, basically the same for any smart lock hardware. However, the hassle comes when trying to connect it to the Yale Home/Access app. The Yale app just could not 'find' the lock even after registering the wifi smart module by pressing the 7+gear method. No other method online helped including hard reset, reseating the smart module etc. The solution is just to download the August app. Its UI is basically the same as Yale (considering Yale bought August). Create an account in the app, and set up the lock by entering its Serial Number or manual product selection, and the app manages to connect to the lock. Voila, all online features are now available for use. So really, the wifi + bluetooth module is really an august module. So far its working great. Auto unlock is still finicky but the Apple Watch app is super responsive, so i'd negate this issue altogether. The bummer for me is i could not connect this to Homekit, as no stickers were included in the box, lock, battery compartment, smart module whatsoever. But i know it is supported as advertised due to the fact that i could see it when trying to add accessory in Homekit, but couldn't connect because i dont have the 8-digit code nor the QR code. So please spare yourself the hassle, just install the hardware following the manual guidebook, and then use the August app to connect this lock. ... show more

  • No WiFi module - oh wait, there it is
I received my first device and after calling support, I returned it because there was no white WiFi block that plugs into the wall and support said it should come with the model I purchased. I believed them because the packaging box has a slot for it. When I received the second device with no white WiFi block, I called support again and was informed that it was now built into the module and they needed to update their documentation. Device installed with ease, using the Yale App, I configured and connected it to HomeKit in less than a minute. So far so good. ... show more

  • The app is better than another manufacturer I have been using
I had a little problem with programming, but customer support was excellent and once I got it, it was easy to use. I have used other manufacturers of the same product and I definitely will only be using Yale for other homes & rentals I have. GREAT FOR SHORT TERM RENTALS.

  • Doesn't come with module (but still usable). Batteries were dead.
Color: Satin Nickel Size: Touchscreen Style: Touchscreen
Install is simple enough, especially if you're just replacing another handle. it took us forever to realize there was not a module included (the module is what gives the ability to do all the cool things from your app) and we looked for it for hours thinking we may have thrown it away. ANYway, my fault for not reading. It still wouldn't work and it turned out to be dead batteries that came with it. That was a drag. I do have another higher end Yale lock on my house and I love it and it does ALL the things. One very important piece of advice as a longtime user is: Change your batteries every 6 months. Put it on your calendar like you would your smoke detector, and if you don't do that with your smoke detector, please start today. :) ... show more
