Far as I know the only smart LEVER compatible with Apple HomeKit and additional options for other parts of the house. Super easy to install. With Connected by August it has Door Sense capability to know a door is left ajar and need less apps since works with other August and Yale that have Connected by August. Update- not sure what happened but it now works really well. Sometimes when we come home from a walk, the Auto Unlock is delayed a bit but not to bad. Overall, it’s been working great and we really enjoy having it. Can’t give an update on the bad customer service because I haven’t had to call again. Original Review DO NOT BUY if you are purchasing for Auto-Unlock!!! Have had this installed for a week now and auto-unlock has worked about two times out of twenty. Customer support SUCKS! Ninety percent of the time you’re on hold. First time I called, was on the phone nearly an hour. They went through all the settings with me, had me send logs and that was it. Got a few emails asking a few more questions then an email saying thank you, we hope to improve our product in the future. Second call I was on the phone for about 45 minutes, mostly on hold, for them to tell me development are looking into it and we have no idea when they would get back with me and it depends on if they get other similar complaints, this was from a supervisor . Was Really looking forward to having this lock for the features but it just doesn’t work. ... show more

Overall, I was very happy with this lock. We didn't have a deadbolt and wanted a smart lock, so--as others have said--it was pretty much the easiest option. Installation was easy and the August app did what I wanted it to. However, when we got to the part of the install where we connected it to HomeKit, it would not connect. I tried several times and tried to add it directly through the Home app (rather than going through the August app). Nothing worked. I contacted August support with a screenshot of the error I received. They asked me to send logs. Then, they told me they had opened a "bug report" and they would be in touch when they knew more. I asked when that would be and they said it could be months or longer. I'm not going all the way down to one star on this product because it DOES do everything else I wanted it to and the August app gets me 90% of the functionality that I wanted. But I specifically bought this because it was HomeKit compatible and that does not appear to be the case. At least not right now. I will gladly come back and update my review and rating if and when support gets back to me with a fix. But for the time being, if you expect HomeKit compatibility, you need to look for a different option (even though I know there aren't many). ... show more

  • No backup if batteries run out or motor fails

I bought these locks assuming I'd be able to add key cylinders to them. Turns out this is impossible - even disassembling the lock quite a bit doesn't allow you to replace the dumb cylinder with a real one. This is a deal breaker for me. I've had several keypad based locks, and in each case, at least once the battery has suddenly failed, or in one case the motor failed. Without a key backup, I'd have to hire someone to come out and cut the lock off or other destructive action to get into the room that would become inaccessible. This is a deal breaker for me. I’m a pretty handy guy and can tackle plumbing, electrical, hardware with no problem. This was a train wreck. The instructions are just pictures and the video on their YouTube channel instructs you to connect the interior locking plate and exterior with two long screws - they’re 3” and far too long to correctly work. The black M42 screws inside are what you should use. However, these cannot be tightened enough to make the lock assembly not wobble on the door frame. That’s right, the whole thing just wobbles side to side. The exterior handle would not under any circumstances install correctly. It wouldn’t go on. When taking everything apart, the screws included strip with only hand force and the barrel they feed into will come completely unscrewed because it’s not properly soldered in place, just screwed in. So you feed a screw into a screw and miracle of miracles they both thread out. Thinking of calling Yale customer service? Don’t. A very friendly overseas call center has no technical advice when you hit 3 for technical support and instead want you to email your name, address, proof of purchase, and photos of the issue to them and they’ll replace it in 10 business days. Apparently the reviews i watched before buying this were all crap because the install was nothing like they showed. Not only that the instructions that come with it is garbage. I got it with August, which was another mistake because they have the biggest piece of crap app i have ever seen before in my life.. its worked for about 2 minutes out of an hour. Takes forever to connect even tho I'm standing next to my router and lock. All unobstructed. The quality of the lock isn't any better as the handle on the interior is loose which causes the lock to get stuck so basically it's useless at this point. Would not recommend this product to anyone who wants a lock that actually works correctly. Id rather use my deadbolt instead of this lock now. Complete garbage ... show more
