Takes a little time to assemble. As described, holds the kayaks well. The straps are cheap, but they will work for now. Not too noisy. Fit two boats on a 2017 jeep renegade.

    • Hold’s kayaks great
This holds the kayaks great the only this is that you have to really tighten the nuts super tight or it will move as you are traveling.

    • Works as expected, doesn't fly off roof at 70mpg
These work as expected but I would have preferred a heavier gauge metal construction and better clamp mechanism to hold them to the vehicle. They do wobble a little on the roof rack but seem to be fine with a kayak on them strapped to the roof rail. You get what you pay for and these were the lowest cost ones that I could find. I would have preferred a rubber piece between the metal and my roof rack so that it didn't mar it, and a set of straps to secure the ends of the kayaks to the vehicle. This kit includes 4 cam-lock straps that are are difficult to get really tight (compared to a ratchet strap) so hopefully they won't come loose during extended highway speeds. ... show more

Materials were high quality and should hold two kayaks securely on the rood of a car. Also they will last a long time with proper storage. The rubber carrier is very thick and it was a struggle inserting the short and long tubes and connecting them together. But the bigger problem was inserting the carriage bolts through the rubber carrier. The diameter of the head of the bolts were equal to or slightly larger than the rubber. Inserting the bolts far enough so the square underside seated in the tube is very challenging. Fortunately I have a bench grinder and was able to reduce the diameter of the head of the carriage bolts. This made assemble much more straight forward. Total time of assemble was 6 hours, but I'm retired so it doesn't matter. ... show more

Making a 4 kayak trailer. 1st 4 were a pain in the ass to assembly.3 hours I spent as you couldn't get pipes into rubber without a mallet, grease, etc, poor alignment on bolts, but they look sturdy. Next set of 4 I just received, together in 40 minutes. Rubber more pliable and allowed complete assembly with out mallet, channel locks, etc. Completely pleased this time, but still recommend getting good straps to use ... show more

    • Affordable, easy to install and use.
Took a bit of time to install but they work great for our kayaks. They create a fair amount of wind resistance noise. I've removed them for the winter. Wing nut assembly makes it easy to remove. Great price.

    • Exactly what I was looking for to carry my kayaks
I have two 12 foot kayaks each about 68 pounds and a Subaru Crosstrek. This J-Bar roof rack holds them without any problems and is very sturdy. It was easy to install. All the hardware was good.
