  • Works as described, very sturdy
Color: Silver
The plastic guides that channel the straps at the top of the center post dividers were both broken upon arrival. The shipping fils had apparently dropped the package and upon impact they both snapped. Also, on my SUV roof rack (GMC-very common) the shoulder on the carriage bolts prevents the clamps from tightening to the roof rack bars. And since these same carriage bolts are long ( to accommodate a universal fit) there is a real possibility that you could have the bolt ends hit the roof of your car. I added some foam pads underneath the roof rack and that suspended the whole assembly. These are metric carriage bolts, so difficult to find ina half inch shorter version at most common hardware stores. Even so, even with these issues, this carrier system is very strong, well built and did the job well. I like it. Hence the five star rating.. Now...send me 8- 1/2" shorter carriage bolts and I'll be really pleased! ... show more

  • Good quality
Color: Silver
I've taken this rack on a few trips already and was very surprised at how good it was carrying my large 15' fishing kayak. Very sturdy design and easy to setup on most racks. Only qualms I have are: the rack comes in four pieces and ratchet straps could be a foot longer for SUV's. It still works regardless of that, just would make it easier. Good product! ... show more

  • Good value rack but a split rack would be better
Color: Silver
This rack was chosen because of cost and it can hold your paddles. The foam pads protect the kayak from rubbing and hold them steady. The straps it comes with do a decent job securing the kayaks. Easy assembly and install. Cons: There is no rhyme or reason (i.e. instructions) on how to tie down the kayaks to the racks using the straps so use your best judgement. The top of the racks have a slot for the straps but unless you wrap the straps around it, they're virtually useless. And when you wrap the straps, it makes cinching the straps down impossible so make sure you estimate the right amount of slack you need to tightly secure the kayaks. I would have picked a double rack instead of a single for two kayaks if one had been available. Having one rack for two kayaks can be slightly dangerous... you load one kayak, fine. You load two, make sure its secured because it will cause the other to fall off the top of your vehicle. ... show more

  • XGeek Kayak Roof Rack
This XGeek Kayak Roof Rack is well made and a good value. I really like the simplicity of this rack. I ended up returning it becuase it wasn't a good fit for the shape of my kayak hull. But that doen't mean it couldn't work well for another kayak. I would easily recommend it. Fast shipping and easy return. ... show more

  • Excellent value and full function.
Color: Silver
We have two 10' plastic kayaks. They fit VERY well on this rack. The tie-downs provided are excellent: two for around the kayaks to the roof bars, and two ratchet tie-downs for fore and aft. You will probably need some cord (I use parachute cord) to make loops in the fore and aft holes in your kayak(s) to attach the ratchet ties' hooks. Installation was a breeze. Further, they are easy to dismount and store (recommended to prevent weathering of rubber and rusting of metal hardware). Have not tried the included paddle carrying system, but our paddles come apart and are just as easy to toss in the back of the car. I believe this one will perform just as well as any of the higher-priced versions. ... show more

  • Kayak carrier
Color: Silver
Installation of this carrier was very simple and easy . The straps to hold the kayaks on work well , but they are a little hard to figure out on how to put them on

  • Good With Some Caveats
Color: Black
The rack itself is good. Seems worth the money. However, as some have stated, the bolts that come with it are unnecessarily long and can hit the roof of your car. Also the Cam Buckle Straps that come with it are pretty short if you're tying down a wider kayak. They wouldn't work with my 34" wide kayak. It also doesn't come with any straps to tie down the front and rear of the kayak. So, here's what I needed to make this rack work with my kayaks. 8 - M8x1.25 Carriage Bolts 50mm long (The length of the supplied bolts are 65mm. 50mm is the lowest I could go with factory aero bars (Toyota/Lexus). 2 - 10" Cam Buckle Straps (To strap a 34" kayak to the rack) 2 - 18" Cam Buckle Straps (To secure the front and back of the kayaks to the vehicle) Other than that, I've transported two 11 foot long x 34 inch wide Kayaks each weighing 65lbs on this rack. ... show more

  • Could be better
Color: Silver
This product is just ok for the price paid. The two sides have tubes which are supposed to slide inside each other. One side was wider than the other and would not slide together until I bent the tube slightly so it would match up. More on the tubes, when assembled and kayaks installed the two sections kept sliding apart no matter how tight I got the clamps it slid apart. I pushed the two sides together and drilled a hole through both tubes and installed a stainless steel screw through each tube. It is now much more solid. The part of the rack that goes against your roof rack is metal so you end up with metal on metal and that causes the system to slide around even when extremely tight. The bottom clamp is rubber and if they made the top rubber coated it would be much more solid and wouldn’t immediately rub the powder coating or paint off of your roof rack. It was easy to install. If I wasn’t going on a trip so soon I’d return it. ... show more
