Sometimes, we never know what we are going to get when we order kitchen supplies from Amazon. But this time, we are extremely pleased with this wooden magnetic knife block. From the additional thank you note in the very well packed box to the ease of putting the stand on to the magnetic "lock" on the knives--this was a GREAT purchase. The icing on top is that is is very compact so it will not take up much counter space, but all the knives are still easily accessible. The cherry on top--the finish and the wood used is superb and beautiful. And to be honest, this is higher quality than the acacia wood cutting board I purchased earlier this year that was originally priced 3 times higher than this premium block. I've had other similar knife blocks, but never one with magnets as strong as this one. It holds multiple (6-8) knives per side, including large chef's knives and small paring knives, plus every size in-between. It looks great--really attractive wood, and works like a charm!!! I recommend it highly!!!!! Just remember that you will need to remove the knives by lifting them away by rolling them to one side before removing them. Especially with larger knives, just trying to just pull them off will b an exercise in futility. That speaks to the quality of the magnet. ... show more

All of my knives fit perfect and are not to long. Steak knives fit on the back and daily knives on the front. Magnet is strong. Looks beautiful too!

Style: Santoku Knife + Chef's Knife
Both knives have some weight, but I don't find them well-balanced. I prefer knives with more weight forward toward the blades to help with slicing than close to the handle. Overall, the quality is reasonably good. The Santoku knife is much sharper than the Chef knife out of the box. I have to touch up the edge of the Chef knife before it is usable. I found that the handle of the Santoku is not as smooth as that of the Chef knife; the metal is not fully grounded flush with the plastic handle. I don't know what is the steel material so it's hard to tell how long they will hold their edge. They are good for everyday use but not up to par with crafted knives.
