  • 5 stars, multiple review updates... Read all
Bought it to use for long days out on the ice (fishing). I just did my first test burn, and think it will work perfectly. 4 three inch logs will give you 3-5 hours of burn time. Depending on how much you let the fire breathe. I own a modified Eskimo 949i. I removed a Velcro window and replaced it with a double layer of felt welding blanket. Then ran the Winnerwell B vent tube through it. At times I’ve fished in -20 degrees weather, and at times I’ve had my shanty up to 80-90 degrees with this stove. There’s nothing better than ice fishing in a t shirt 😂 or having the safety and security blanket off being able to head back to base camp to warm up. Plus I can cook directly on it, and dry clothes above/by it. ~~~ First Update ~~~ I downgraded my review from 5 stars to 1. On the grounds that customer service is nonexistent, and replacement parts are unattainable (Link was broken on Winnerwell website) I broke the glass window. A piece of wood was in contact with the window, but the door still shut and latched with ease, so I figured it would be ok. Apparently I was wrong, and that’s ok with me, but what I’m not ok with is spending $500 dollars on a stove plus accessories. Without the ability to purchase spare parts from the manufacturer. I’ve gotten many compliments from others about this stove on the lake and inquires as to where someone can purchase one. But I can’t on good faith recommend the product. Understanding that if something similar happens to their or your units. You will not be able to purchase replacement parts. (This goes for all Winnerwell products) $500 is too much to spend on something that can’t be fixed if accidents happen. ~~~ Second Update ~~~ (Winnerwell fully redeems themselves) I got ahold of a guy named Mike at SpringBar Canvas, and notified him of the broken website for purchasing replacement Winnerwell parts. He was super friendly and understanding of my predicament, and he timely delivered my replacement Glass free of Charge. Which allowed me to finish out the ice fishing season in warmth and luxury. (2018 early 2019 season) I highly recommend this product, and would buy again, but fortunately for me I think it will last a lifetime. It is extremely well built, and I lay the blame of the glass breaking at my feet. I plan on buying the version with the side glass in the near future. It’s cool watching the fire slo-motion dance inside. ... show more

  • Good for small - medium sized tents
All of the flue fits inside the stove it's self which is really nice for storage. Easy to carry, side racks seem to work well as a carry handle. Used this stove on a 6° degree night for the first test inside a 4p teepee style tent(luxe). Kept the tent warm enough to be in just a thin sweatshirt but required constant feeding of the stove. I would say it would be much more efficient in temps around 15°F +, however it will keep you warm in lower temps with some work. Flue can easily get red hot as well as the sides of the stove so leaving it unattended is not recommended. The inside will have a tough time fitting your standard cuts of fire wood. Found the need to split it once more and cut it in half to make for easier loading. Overall I am very happy with the stove and have not had any real issues with it, would recommend. ... show more

  • Very comforting during a cold night
The media could not be loaded. I've had a chance to use this stove a few times in my Teepee w/stove jack. I ended up buying the double-wall pipe to go through my stove jack as the single-wall pipe was not only too small for the stove jack, it simply got too hot and I didn't feel comfortable with it touching the stove jack material. I did have to cut one of the existing pipes in half so that the double-wall pipe fit where I wanted it to in the stove jack. After cutting the pipe, I simple used some needle-nose pliers and gently shaped the "cut" end to be able to fit into the existing pipes. (Side note: I did call the company asking for advice on cutting/crimping the pipe and they were extremely helpful, polite, and willing to help out however needed. Great customer service.) The pipes all fit together nicely. The pipe with the dampener is quite challenging to get into the top of the stove (and out of), but that's okay. It adds extra stability and you don't have to worry about it falling out. I used the stove one night in very windy conditions and it was very stable. The only challenge I had was keeping the fire "fed". There's nothing wrong with the stove. However, because it has a small firebox, you have to feed it wood often. I was using whatever wood I could find in the woods so it wasn't the best quality wood. If I were to burn nice, dry oak, then it probably would last much longer. I used it a few days ago in 20-degree F humid weather. I was nice and warm while the fire was going. But once I crawled in my mummy bag, within 15 minutes it got pretty cold when the fire died down. In the morning, I had extra small kindling ready so it only took me a few minutes to get another fire going. Once the stove was heated up, I boiled water for fresh-ground coffee and some oatmeal. I love this new style of camping (for me) as it is great to cook inside the tent and be out of the cold/wind/rain/snow. I'm sure there are other great stoves out there but so far, I am really happy with this one! ... show more

  • Great deer camp stove for my bell tent.
I purchased the Winnerwell Nomad medium to use in northern Michigan for deer camp. I set it up in my 13 foot bell tent. It took a little bit of practice beforehand to learn the stove. The stove performed much better than expected. I found myself having to only get up once during the night to load the stove with dry oak. Essentially four hours plus was a good burn time. I would highly recommend the stove. ... show more

  • Quality tent stove
I got this for my hot tent and Klondike flex tent. I went with the medium size stove. 1. First impression is that the weld was great and sturdy. 2. The weight is manageable for car camping. 3. A small dent by the vent door, probably mishandling during delivery. 4. 2.5 inch pipes, maybe should have gone with the larger size stove and wider chimney pipes. 5. Easy to assemble, more time consuming rearranging the pipe when done using. 6. Stove legs are short, need fire barrier if your tent has a floor. Will write another review on how well it heats up the tent, when I have time to use it. ... show more
