We have an attached garage, but no direct passage into it from inside the house. Having to fumble with keys to unlock the back entry door every morning to go work, or even to do a load of laundry on the weekend used to be a pain--until now. Our cars have key-less entry, so why shouldn't the garage? I've been looking at smart locks with fingerprint readers for a while but most were too pricey or looked "clunky". This Sifely lock solved the problem. It's very sleek looking--no ugly buttons. The number keys are not visible until you touch the keypad. The lock has a quality, solid feel. But for me, the most important feature is the fingerprint reader. It works just like my old iPhone 6s, instant response, no waiting for the lock to "think". In fact you have several "key" options: fingerprint, a physical metal key, passcode or phone app. They also include the Wi-Fi gateway which allows you to control the lock from anywhere. The lock was very easy to install. It took me about 45-mins only because I had to remove the old doorknob and remount the old deadbolt in its place. Be aware that the manufacturer recommends mounting the smart lock in the upper position where the deadbolt usually is, which places the door handle a bit higher than usual. We don't have small children, so that's not an issue for us, but you should take this into consideration. You may need to deepen or enlarge the mortised cutout for the new bolt or the striker plate, and the old screw holes may need to be filled and re-drilled. The new striker plate was slightly larger than our old one and the screw holes didn't match up. So I simply swapped our original deadbolt's and doorknob's strikers--no drilling needed. The only issue I have is that the original doorknob hole is now occupied by the old deadbolt lock which looks odd. It would be nice if Sifely provided a matching cover plate to hide the old doorknob hole so that I don't have to remount the old deadbolt in the doorknob's place. For us, one lock is enough. The lock takes 4-AA batteries (not included). You download the phone app, set up an account and add the lock. It works with Bluetooth--I can control the lock from over 30-feet away. You can use the app to lock/unlock and to program passcodes, fingerprints, etc. You also install the included gateway with the app. The gateway is not required to use the lock locally, but you'll need it if you want to control the lock over the internet or just to check its status to see if it's locked. Keep in mind that the gateway has to be located within Bluetooth range of the smart lock. A USB power cable is included but it does not come with a USB wall adapter, which most of us probably have a few lying around the house anyway. I'm not sure how long the batteries will last in the lock. They say up to a year. It's probably still a good idea to keep a spare key available--just in case. Also note that the keys are not standard, much longer than common house keys. It has other features that I seldom use like programming a temporary passcode for a service person or house guest. RFID key fobs are included which I'll probably never use because the fingerprint reader works so well. In the short time that I've been using this lock, I'm impressed. I find myself just going in and out of the garage for no good reason just to play with it. I love the auto-lock feature and the (volume adjustable) audible/voice confirmation (both options can be turned off) so I never again have to wonder if I left the garage's back door unlocked. No way to lock except by app on phone. Other than that, and the finger print feature, it works well. Bought 2 units. One unit did not come with the keys that were pictured. Completely different shape key.

This lock was to install (thanks to their video) and App was easy to set up. The Sifely lock has to go on top due to the longness. The deadbolt has to go at the bottom. Your door is setup with a deeper hole on the top, which means you or a locksmith will need to chisel out a deeper hole on the bottom hole to refit your deadbolt there. Plus you'll want to buy a different black strikeplate as this one is flimsy/ugly and silver color too boot. The only install dig is that the removable rubber backing starts to wrinkle on some edges when you start tightening the screws which kinda ruins the "tightness" of the look. You can also remove the rubber backing which easily solves that issue. Performance seems to work well. It doesn't grab my fingerprint all the time even though I sent up my thumb in different angles and heights and saved those prints. You can always use the pinpad though which works well. The keycard works great but is too big(!) on a keychain. They should use much smaller ones and with holes as big as a key. I think I'll buy a smaller keycard. on the internet to get what should have been included. The physical lock as a magnetic lock, which is great but didn't include a way to open the plastic. They should have put a little indenture on the bottom to get the fingernail in there to open it. As it stands, it's a chore taking the plastic cap off and if you do, you'll likely mar the delicate plastic finish. To top it off, the Sifely physical key is too long! So you have a card key that's too big and key that's too long. Do these product designers realize how keys on a keychain look like? This objects ruin the convenience factor. Additionally, the Sifely physical lock can't be rekeyed. Many people have ONE key to open locks from either Kwikset or Schlage, etc. But nope. You have to use their extra long key. What I'm going to do is just leave the physical key in the car. in case of emergency or a way to give energy to dead batteries to get inside. The app will advise you though when batteries are about to go out. I have this lock on my garage door coupled with the #1 rated Utec Ulock deadbolt. They both work great together. Security: This lock isn't ANSI rated. Which means we don't know how secure it is. But how secure are locks anyway? I saw a locksmith drill into a Schlage ANSI 1 lock in 10 seconds! So much for ratings! If a thief want to break in, he'll go through a window or since I have glass doors, thru the door. Locks really are bubblegum --just minor deterrents. If you want real security, get a security system to line up your windows or a dog. LOL. Any security will come from the deadbolt anyways (which you should have for kickproofness). I get a lot of afternoon sun hitting this lock so it'll be interesting to see how the electronics hold out. Despite all of my rational room for improvements, the convenience factor supercedes everything and will keep it. The other competitors also are good but also have their negativity. The electronic Schlage would be my #2 as their stuff is secure and reliable, though this product has more features. If for any reason the product fails to live up to fair level of reliability, I'll edit this review. If you read this review after 3 years and I haven't edited it then that means it's still working properly. Since it's electronic, it's fair to hope to get 10 years. We'll see. ... show more
