The media could not be loaded. This does give off a nice amount of warmth. Does it look like a real fire? No, but it does look good. I wish the display was not front and center because that definitely takes away from a realistic look. First time using it today, so hopefully it holds up. My grandmother has a beautiful living room fireplace, but she stopped using it after my grandfather passed away when I was a little girl (in the 90s). His birthday was November 24, but our family has always celebrated it on Thanksgiving, so this year, I decided to surprise my grandmother by putting an electric fire in the fireplace. This turned out better than I ever imagined. Altogether, set-up only took about 10 minutes. That includes carrying the old grate to the garage, unboxing and placing the machine, and finding an extension cord (my grandmother's house is pretty old, so there aren't as many electric outlets and this product's cord isn't very long). When turned on, this is absolutely stunning and quite realistic, especially because the back has this function that casts realistic flame effects onto the wall. The heat function works well to add warmth to this large room. You can hear the fan, but it's not overly noisy at all, nor is it unpleasant. The remote control is quite easy to use, as are the controls on the actual device. Everyone in the family loves it; my mom is already talking about getting one for the summer cottage's fireplace. We bought this after failing to find a fireplace insert that would fit inside our short (15") fireplace. The damper and hood are simply too low, so we measured carefully and took a chance on this faux log set. It fits perfectly and the cord is long enough to reach the outlet nearby. The heat output and noise level are what you would expect from a space heater, but it's perfect for our needs. We just wanted supplemental heat. The overall light effect is impressive, and I was surprised to see that it also projects flames onto the back wall of your fireplace. The remote control allows you to turn on the light and heater together, just the heater, or just the light. The heater can run high or low. It also has an optional timer, where you can tell it to shut off after so many hours. The user manual claims that it will shut off automatically if it gets too hot, which is nice to know. It made the living room cozy for the holidays, and we received several compliments. The price was great, and time will tell if it holds up to daily use. ... show more

    • Poor quality of remote control

We bought this product in Dec 2023. It was good. We only used for about 7 days during holidays last year. Right before Christmas 2024 , we started to use it, unfortunately the remote control didn’t work. After contacted with customer service, we were told we should get a replacement. However, we received an email next day and said we need to pay addition $30 to replace poor quality remote control. I cannot believe how bad the quality of remote control (it’s broken only used for 7 days) and cannot believe how expensive for a small piece of plastic remote. BTW, the product also has buttons in the side, however it cannot be turned off for the fan and had to turn off whole heater. ... show more
