Software is free and has all the pan-tilt, tracking, detection, privacy modes that one might need, and easy sharing access to other family members. I am using 128gb memory cards for local storage. Using the app, it is easy to look at the clips that were automatically saved upon motion detect, and it is easy to download any clips you need archived to protect from overwrite due to loop save mode. I did hours of research trying to find a budget friendly, quality camera, WITH NO SUBSCRIPTION. This camera is perfect! I use it to check in on my cats during the day since I leave at 4am and get home at 2pm. The night vision and day vision camera quality is surprisingly good (the camera doesn't zoom in but you can zoom in on your screen on the app). The app is easy to use as well and I haven't had any connectivity issues at all. My Wi-Fi is 5ghz but in the My Spectrum app it lets you switch it to 2.5ghz temporarily to set up the camera and it was super easy and worked well. I have been using the camera for a week now and I don't regret buying it (except I should have got a 2 pack). It has a privacy mode to turn off the camera when I am home which is nice. The cable is probably close to 8 feet long. The speaker is decent and it has a mini SD card slot. I like that it also has an option for both motion detection and person detection. I don't want notifications every time my cats run back and forth but I do want to know if there is someone in my house so I leave only the person detection on and it works 100% of the time (my mom goes over to visit them and it always sends notifications). I use it for security at night too with the alarm system you can set up. You can chose lights, siren, or both and you can set it for manual on or scheduled. Gives me an extra peace of mind on the nights I am home alone. 100% recommend this camera (save yourself the hours of research, I did it for you)!!! ... show more

I plan on buying another one. The best part of all is that you don't have to subscribe to anything!!! You can use the sd card. I've been impressed by the features of these little cameras. The 2K video is crisp and clear with excellent night vision. The app is easy to navigate and works well from remote locations, with or without wifi. Up to five people can share it to perform basic functions (camera moves, 2-way talk, receive notifications) but only the user who performed the set up can alter the advanced settings (video resolution, notifications levels). It integrates seamlessly with the Kasa app so if you have any of their other devices (which are excellent), they can all be controlled in one place. The motion tracking works well, although it sometimes reverts to an empty "home" position if there isn't any activity. But another nice feature is the ability to preset up to eight viewpoints per camera so you can quickly move to that designated area with one tap. Notifications can be set from none to all times movement or certain sounds are detected. It has recording capability with an SD card or cloud service, though I use neither. The units themselves are small and unobtrusive. For basic tasks (minding an elderly parent, baby, pets, intruders), these are a great choice at a very reasonable cost. ... show more

Switched over from blink......This is the way to go. You can stream from a browser after setting it up. No subscription needed can use SD card. Easy to use. Highly recommended. The cloud trial worked great, just no need. The camera will still record without internet as long as it has power and a SD card installed.     • Great for Continuous Recording with Micro SD Card

I’ve only been using this for about 15 minutes so I’ll update my review if my opinion changes but this thing is fantastic. I needed an inexpensive camera that will continuously record. This one seemed to be capable of that if using a micro SD card (purchased separately) but I wasn’t sure how it would work exactly. I purchased a 256 Gb Sandisk High Endurance Video card along with this camera. I’m very familiar with setting up smart cameras and this one was among the easiest I’ve ever set up, possibly the easiest. Once set up and after installing the card, the app told me the card needed to be formatted and easily walked me through a couple of clicks to do that. I turned on continuous recording and the app allows me to easily see both live video and scroll through the history. It can also notify me and provides a recorded clip of motion or sound alerts while continuously recording. These are shown on the continuous recording in orange so I can easily scroll to that point in the continuous recording to see the video before and after the alert. It tracks the motion and then resets to the original position after a few seconds. I can easily clip and download sections of the recorded video. The video quality is very good.
