I work for the post office as a letter carrier in Texas, and the summers here are absolutely BRUTAL. Ive heard good things about neck cooling fans from friends so I did my homework. After I read the features on this model, specifically the COOLING features, and watching some product review videos with some competitors, I didn't hesitate to make the purchase. After the product arrived, I did a quick read through of the manual. Very easy to understand, interface is very straightforward. I've opted to not use the app at this time however, I see no reason for an app to need location information permission, especially in this context, which is unfortunate; there's an auto feature that's advertised to control temperatures based on various parameters. I suppose this was in response to the competitor, the ranvoo aice 3 having an "ai" feature that did something similar. I'm not sure from a technical standpoint how the hardware adjusts settings, that part seemed murky. Since it's just so hot outside for me anyway, not having the auto feature available without using the app isn't a deal breaker, I just set the cooler settings to max manually. Functionally, if you're wondering if this product actually "cools" then, yes, absolutely it does. When your outside in dramatic heat, youre clothes, hat, etc still feel hot, but that dramatic build up of intense body heat is dramatically reduced. For those who work outside for a living, you know that point when your body is just heat soaked and you need to stop and take a break somewhere cool, this product definitely helps your body maintain normal temperatures. When you get into a vehicle or building that has ac, this neck cooler will have a NOTICEABLE impact on how fast you recover. (You're still going to get hot, but it does help.) This thing is also pretty tight around your neck, but it does a good job of staying in place where you want it. Youre either adjusting it more for casual wearing comfort, or you might wear it in a more restrictive manner to get the cooling plates and the fans exactly where you can appreciate them more on a very hot day. If you have considerably large diameter neck, the fitment may bother you, and you might want to consider the larger Ranvoo. As far as recommendations, Id like Torras to consider coming out with with some kind of washable fabric liner. Obviously you want this to be as close to your skin as possible to appreciate the cooling effect, but where the cooling plates are in the inside collar, it's just smooth plastic, and it's in direct contact with your skin and there's no airflow for your skin to breath. Maybe in future iterations Torras can find a way to implement airflow so you don't feel like this thing is sticking to your neck but benefit from the cooling still. I haven't tested any other products in this category, overall, I say it does it's job well. I don't like the feeling it's sticking to your neck and I wonder if there's other products that have stronger fans (I almost have to wear it in such a way its hugging the bottom of my jaw to appreciate airflow to my ears where I'd prefer to have air to) but again, this is the context that you're outside in extreme heat anyway, with cooler temperatures you'll notice a nice, comfortable breeze surround your neck, face. If you're a professional working outside, hiking, doing yardwork in the summer, taking kids to an outdoor event all day, running errands and getting in and out of a hot vehicle constantly, this is a game changer, and you'll want to integrate this into your lifestyle. Especially with heat records constantly being broken. That being said, if it's a moderate to nice day out and you just want to use the fan, you'll have a long run time for all day use. Not many products in this category have a cooling feature and that comes at a price. You will want a power bank.. You'll get two hours on max settings, tops. I hope Torras continues to innovate in this space and approach it with the mindset that this is truly a wellness device. Love it so far!! I am a painter and during an 8hr shift I have to charge it for a bit at lunch and also it can not be on full blast. If it is on full blast the battery lasts about 4 hrs. Made it to 6.5 hrs with only the back cooling unit on and just fan in front. Yes it literally gets cold and cools your neck while blowing not cold but cooler air up the back of your ears and up and down the back of your neck.. it also has a warming feature. Being summer I just checked it out quick. It surely gets nice and warm, does it quickly also. Side note, it will not keep you from sweating, it just takes the edge off so you don't feel like you are overheating all day. Download the app for full detailed control of it. 1 week later. Just took a Pic of myself in the sun on a hot day and my neck is cool and I am not dripping with sweat like usual. Win!! ... show more

    • Limited effectiveness in higher temperatures
I tried the deluxe limited edition stainless steel "thermochromic" model. It's sturdy and well made, and the design looks great. However, it's not without its share of pros and cons. PROS It gets very cold/heats up fast and the customizable airflow when set to max is quite strong (but see cons, below, because the range at which it is effective at cooling is rather narrow). The free app is fast and easy, with a super clean, attractive, and idiot-proof animated interface. It allows you to turn the device on/off and customize the air flow strength as well as which vent configuration you want to use (all, neck, left, or right, in whatever combination desired). You can switch between cold, hot, or only air. It tracks your battery life down to the last percentage point, as well as with a wheel symbol. In short, you need this app! It's a joy to use. You can use the Coolify Cyber while it is charging, which is great! Unfortunately, due to the underside placement of the charging port, the cable's connector uncomfortably rubs against your collar bone. Somebody should have thought this placement through a little better. CONS The cold pack part (in the back of the neck) is only effective up to maybe 85-90 degrees and works much better indoors than outdoors. Once the temperature starts to get higher, all you're going to feel is hot air from the vents. I was able to test my unit outdoors and indoors during 75-98 degree summer weather, but no comparable test for how the heat function does in winter. I did briefly test the heat function on a cooler summer day, and it seems fine, but I can't guarantee how well it would perform in winter. This is not a replacement for an indoor AC, but it does allow you to be mobile, which is nice. The recessed controls are impossible to find/work while it's being worn. This is an inconvenience more than a problem as long as you have the Coolify app installed and your phone handy. The built in fan controls are a bit counterintuitive, but you can use the app to avoid them. The Cyber is a little bit heavier and tighter than cheaper plastic neck fans, but not uncomfortably so. However, if you have an especially thick or wide neck, it might hug you too tightly. It has a limited hinged design to accommodate different neck sizes, but it's much less forgiving than cheaper bendable neck fans. I hear the cheaper Coolify models don't have the same problem. The battery life is not great when you set it on max air with the cold function. It burns up about 1% a minute. I did not do any battery life tests with the heat function. The loudness factor is also a bit much when it is on full blast. The noise when setting it on low is fine and not too bad on medium. The thermochromic bonus feature (available in the deluxe stainless steel limited edition only) adds zero value as it changes color rarely and only on the inside of the band where no one will see it. OVERALL The Coolify Cyber is a cool idea (pardon the pun) but overpriced for what it does. I say this primarily because of its limited effectiveness in higher temperatures, and that it's better for indoor home or office use than going outside. If you're only dealing with temperatures in the mid-70s to mid-80s and intend to use the device mostly indoors without AC, you might love it. While I chose to return my Cyber, I do like the direction where Torras is taking their Coolify line. I'm sure they'll continue to keep iterating newer, better, and more powerful versions.
