  • Not made for windy days
So… I bought this plane for my mentally challenged brother. The first time out it was a really nice day with a very slight breeze and he had a great time. Maybe a few very hard landing but this plane survived all of them. Only issue the first time out was the battery life, it only last about 8 minutes. Now on to the second day out I bought him five extra batteries… my mentally challenged brother ran out in the field and just threw the plane and started flying. It was a little more windy out on this trip. I looked up and noticed the plane was up really high and heading to the west at great speed. I told my brother he need to bring it back in and he said “I am trying”. That is when I knew that plane was never coming back. Not a minute later we lost sight of it completely. We did drive around a bit to look for it but could never find it. My brother cried the entire way home even after his favorite type of food… bbq. So moral of the story is don’t fly when It is windy out. ... show more

  • For a supervised beginner
The plane arrived quickly. it was for a little friend who is excited to get into R/C flying. The plane is for beginners definitely. It could be a bit sturdier in the wings but it was designed to be light. For the beginner, the plane is going to get some bumps and bruises. This is where someone with experience can help you put things back together so you can continue flying. This was a good moment to teach a little mechanical experience. My little friend was ecstatic once he was able to control the plane on his own and has flown it a number of times. ... show more

  • Thin Material
Haven't flown yet, but the material that the wings are made of is really thin .

  • Great park flyer - easy to fly
My wife bought this for me (a seasoned flyer) for a Christmas present. I'm having a blast with it. A rank beginner can fly this with practice, just make SURE you have a wide open space and NO wind. If you cant find a coach, study the control movements, anything on the internet about flying RC planes and make sure you know how the throttle works. Toss it into the wind, if you run into an issue, quickly chop the throttle, chase the plane and try again. Start with short low, slow, flights, learn to turn and climb first. A good 5 or 10 acre open area would be good start, free of trees, buildings and no wind. This is so light, I left the landing gear off. Flys better than one of my older Hobbyzone park flyers. A spare battery would be good, I have not looked into a second battery yet. ... show more

  • Awesome
Love this, it's a great airplane for beginners and at a solid price as well. Was bummed when I first got it thinking it was poor quality but I've wrecked this thing so darn much and it still hasn't broke yet. Great but. Easy to fly but still a challenge. Can't say enough good things about it I highly recommend ... show more

  • Pretty disappointed overall but live to flight another day…
After waiting a month or so me and my son got our plane this morning. I have flown before and am not a newbie but this was something i had hoped to teach him on before the $$$ kicks in. In theory it should be ok. A few improvements to this would make it much better. Firstly the quality is so so, the foam could be better and a little thicker in places. The wheels serve zero purpose really as even this runway surface couldn’t be used. The wheels stuck and the plane would flip up. Our first flight ended with the plane landing softly in grass and yet still had damage to the underside of the nose. After checking it out, everything did still work. Second flight half throttle no wind the plane decides to stop taking input from pitch/yaw only allowing rudder and throttle. Which wasn’t enough to stop it basically drifting off several football fields (length wise) away over the trees. All i could do was cut throttle and hope for the best, fortunately we found it in a low tree and was able to pluck it down. Relatively un scathed. It’s pretty unpredictable at times and so for sure would advise the largest open space possible for this. Electrical tape and a hot glue gun will be needed to keep this working. Update: another flight on a perfect day for flying and again the transmitter lost control and stopped responding. Plane crashed and i have returned it due to faulty controller. ... show more

  • Great park flyer for begginner to intermediate level
Got this for my 11 yo son as a replacement for a 3-channel simpler plane which started falling apart after meeting the ground a few too many times. It has everything to start playing (RTF means ready-to-fly). It comes in a box in which you can carry it when you go to the field. It has one battery which lasts a few minutes, you can buy more if you want. The charger is USB and can only charge one battery. It is small enough that you can fly it on a football/baseball field. My backyard is not big enough though. My understanding that you don't have to be a member of AMA to be able to fly this (I think you do if you have much larger planes). It is sensitive to the wind but you can fly it as long as wind is not too strong; it's funny how you can make it stay still (relative to the ground) when flying against the wind. This plane has 4 RC channels: throttle; elevators (on the tail allowing you to raise or dip the nose), ailerons (on the wings to make it roll left or right and make the plane turn) and the rudder (on the tail making the nose move left or right to help with the turn). Having controlled ailerons allows you to make aileron roll (which turns out is different from barrel roll!) so you can't do that with 3-channel planes. The controls are very user-friendly, they offer 3 levels of complexity, there's a switch on the side of the controller. The simplest one is the most stable one but doesn't allow you to maneuver too much. So you can just make it ascend or descend and make very wide turns. Next one allows for more control of the plane while still providing some stabilization (the plane has sensors and a microcontroller onboard which makes adjustments to the appropriate control surfaces to keep the thing level). The most advanced level gives you full control over the thing and you can move control surfaces to the max. My son usually uses level 2, I used level 3 a few times and almost wrecked it so try to stick to level 2. I would say that this can even be a 1st RC plane, but you can also opt for a simpler and a cheaper one. This is the 3rd RC plane I own, I wrecked the 1st one very quickly and 2nd one is pretty badly damaged after all the falls. So it's probably better if this nicer plane is not your 1st. Its propeller snaps onto the motor so that if it smashes into the ground too hard, it comes off instead of breaking. I don't know if it helps or not, never had the propeller break before, but did lose one when it came off after hard landing and we couldn't find it in the grass. The toy comes with 2 spare propellers though. It is much more sturdy than it looks and feels, mostly because it doesn't fly very fast and we always fly it on a field so when it falls it's on the grass which provides a cushion. Still, after 1+ years, as my son got carried away with trying to do an immelmann, he slammed it into the ground at full speed and the wing completely broke. I will try to to repair it or even get a replacement wing, but I also ordered a new plane from the same company, P51, with similar controls but a bit faster and more difficult to control. ... show more
