Description

The Gen8 V2 International Scout II is Redcat’s first vehicle to be completely designed and developed, in house, in the United States. The Gen8 V2 has rapidly taking the RC marketplace by storm. A quick search will reveal its incredible acceptance into the scale RC crawler community. With its amazing performance, straight out of the box, the Gen8 V2 appeals to both the RTR enthusiasts, as well as to the custom build community. The Gen8 V2 International Scout II is a highly competitive professional rock crawler that includes many performance features such as: C-channel frame rails, low center of gravity battery tray, centrally mounted divorced transfer case, lockable slipper clutch, portal axles with metal gear covers, MOD-1 gears, machined aluminum spools, front CVAs, 32 rubber-sealed ball bearings, threaded aluminum shocks, 47º steering blocks with proper Ackerman, Panhard bar, LED-ready bumpers, winch-ready front bumper, and frame mounted floor pans. The Gen8 features a highly detailed fully licensed International Scout II body, hard plastic grill, plastic folding mirrors, molded inner and outer fenders, shackle mount front bumper, receiver hitch ready rear bumper, and plastic rock sliders. The Gen8 V2's body and bumpers are ready to have LED lights installed. True to scale, licensed Interco IROK Super Swamper tires and functional beadlock wheels pull the Gen8 V2 through the toughest terrains. Each wheel uses inner and outer beadlock rings for maximum strength and tire holding capability. Portal axles provide more ground clearance without needing bigger tires. On the GEN8 V2, much of the gear reduction happens inside the portal axles, which means less chassis torque twist than traditional axle shaft driven rock crawlers. The portal axles provide 54.5mm of ground clearance and include metal gear covers, metal wheel hexes, and CNC machined spools. The innovative dual design slipper clutch allows the driver to set the slipper clutch, or completely lock it out. Locking out the slipper clutch is simple, just remove the slipper pads and springs, then reassemble. The GEN8 V2 includes a 32P spur gear and Mod 1 gears in the transmission, transfer case, and portal axles. The Gen8 V2's over built transmission and transfer case feature massive Mod 1 gears, which are designed for hard core crawling of the most grueling conditions. A sealed pinion and spur keeps the gears safe from rocks and debris. Adjust your gearing to fit most motor and driving styles with easy fitment of 9T to 23T pinion gear allowing gear ratios of 28.12 to 71.85. The Redcat Racing GEN8 V2 features a front mounted motor, a divorced transfer case, and 32 rubber sealed bearings through the vehicle. The Redcat Racing GEN8 V2 makes it easy to conquer all types of terrain. The stock configuration offers users 73.4mm of ground clearance, a 61 degree approach angle, and a 39.5 degree departure angle. Fully adjustable wheel base, adjustable ride height, adjustable toe angle, multiple shock positions, adjustable approach and departure angle, tunable suspension, and lockable adjustable slipper clutch, ensure the driver gets the very best performance out of the Gen8, no matter the course conditions. The Gen8 V2 International Scout II is highly upgradeable with many upgraded parts available, including numerable 3D printable parts that have been made available for download by our engineers. The Redcat Racing International Scout II is a great choice for anyone looking for high performance professional rock crawler with limitless potential.

  • Fun, Capable Crawler for the Money
The Redcat Gen8 V2 is a really nice 1/10 crawler, and it is especially impressive when you consider what you get for the price. It may not have the name recognition of the SCX10 or TRX-4, but you get capable out of the box performance, looks, and durability that is hard to beat. This is a great RTR for someone new to rc, crawling, or just wanting to add a new truck to their collection. The body is detailed and sturdy. The stock electronics are really good for RTR; you can upgrade eventually or if you have other gear already, but there should be no urgency to do so. The stock wheels are beadlocks, albeit plastic, and the tires are very good. The wheelbase is adjustable without any additional parts to buy. It feels well-built and sturdy, but remember what it is and what it's meant to do. If you treat it like a monster truck, you're probably going break something. Don't forget the battery and charger; lipo is highly recommended. You don't need anything huge or crazy; I get plenty of punch and runtime from a 3s 2200mah pack. All in all I highly recommend the Gen8 V2. They fixed a lot of the issues with the original Gen8 and kept the price point intact. ... show more

  • Incredible capability and great value!
The media could not be loaded. The capability of the Scout is incredible! So much fun right out of the box. We use a 5200 mAh 7.4V Zeee LiPO battery that lasts about 45 minutes, and charges in less than an hour with a balance charger. This vehicle is durable and takes a ton of abuse. The portal gears and large tires creates a massive amount of ground clearance for tough obstacles. There are many upgrades / mods available and it's fun to build it out with additional lights, roof rack, etc. The video is the stock version, before any mods. The value of the Scout is insane. If you enjoy obstacles and rock crawling, this is for you! Don't forget to get good batteries (get 2 so you can charge one while running the other) and a good balance charger. You'll have loads of fun with the Scout! ... show more

  • Worth Every Penny
Very impressed with this RC Out-Of-The-Box. I am not into competition, just a casual user who drives on the weekends in local areas. It's a very capable vehicle with a ridiculous runtime (1.5 hours+) per charge. I use the Redcat Racing 7.4V 3200mAh Lipo Battery (2S) typically sells for about $36 US. Even though you can use up to a 3s battery I wouldn't recommend it for two reasons; first of all, it would be too fast to rock crawl, secondly, it would put too much power to the transmission and gearing which could lead to early wear and possibly breakage. The only upgrade I have installed (so far) is a set of Heavy Weight Brass Outer Portal Housing ($30 US) to put more weight on each wheel which helps the tires get some extra grip when crawling over obstacles. One issue to note is the throttle response is jerky, you can go from a slow crawl to a quick burst of unwanted acceleration with just a small touch on the throttle. I have read that replacing the electronic speed control will help with that. One of the more popular ESC is the HobbyWing 1080, those are typically around $40 US. In conclusion; it's NOT perfect however with just some minor adjustments and a small upgrade, this is an absolute blast to drive. It's well worth the price of admission. ... show more

  • Total beast, durable and a blast to run!
The media could not be loaded. I've had this Gen 8 scout ii for a while and never gave a review. After finally getting accustomed to the suspension set up, it ran great out of the box. I have since upgraded the drive train, overdrive, cooling fan and numerous other points. The gen 8 scout ii is a steam roller. It's planted firmly and will go over just about anything. I've changed the gearing slightly so it's not as fast. It crawls with ease and is highly upgradeable. The Redcat light kit fits and works perfectly too. I have a trx4 too, but the scout seems to be better planted. Excellent RC Crawler UPDATE 71423 I finally installed the Hobbywing fusion pro, a cooling fan and a new set of adjustable offset wheels and tires. Before this upgrade, the REDCAT GEN 8V2, is like I said before, just a solid, simple crawler. With this upgrade, the Redcat is a stronger, more solid crawler. It only gets better. The are so many things you can do with and to the scout and It is very easy to work on. Upgrades are endless. I did manage to blow out a front axle bearing and the swap out was quick and easy. Just a fabulous rc crawler. ... show more

  • I payed full price for a used product ? Wtf ? thanks “best WH “ won’t buy from you again
Thanks to the seller “Best WH “ I payed $350 for a used redcat gen 8 v2 scout For the amount of money I payed for this rc truck ($350) it shouldn’t have been used. The zip ties that hold it in the box were cut so they truck was bouncing around during shipping the roof has scuffs on due to the thin plastic film used to protect it was torn off . Returning it would be a headache due to third party seller I’m extremely pissed about this very disappointing for my first experience buying a higher end rc truck . Last time I buy anything from this seller so buyers beware don’t purchase yours through a seller named “best WH “ as for the truck itself it’s amazing well worth the money if you have it very solid truck really nice scale details . It’s touchy so it takes a little bit to get used to crawling with it cause it’s got some punch . This scout has a ton of upgrades that can be done to it to make it custom if your into that which I am . The truck gets 5 stars hands down as for the seller they get no stars for being shady and worthless ... show more

  • Great vehicle for money
A lot of fun. For the money it is a great starter rc crawler. Power is a little hard to control especially with a 3s battery. Seems to be holding up well so far. Running gear seems to be pretty solid for what I have been doing. Pretty impressed for the price. Bought a trx4 and this redcat will do just about everything the trx4 does. Biggest difference is just controllability. ... show more
