Santa brought this and it’s still going strong. Child has to try it a few times and get through frustration and then it all clicks and they’re off. Kind of like learning to ride a bike but when watching them you can’t always tell if or how they are shifting their weight which is how this works. Helmets are a must. Knee, elbow and wrist pads also a good idea. Kids need to go fast enough to get over cracks or n the sidewalk and other bumps but their tendency is to go super slow. This black hoverboard was a birthday present for my granddaughter, turning 9 on August 2nd. I also purchased the blue hoverboard for my other granddaughter turning 7 on August 7th. They were nervous and hesitant at first, but after showing them how to get on, balance their body and use their feet to control movements, then get off, they had control of the hoverboards within 15 minutes. The lights are a great addition, they loved all the colors changing as they moved and rolled. Unfortunately we did not have a blue-tooth app to get the music activated. My 2 granddaughter's mom will set that up for them. They were excited to know the hoverboards could play music, and that the lights will dance to the music playing. I do highly recommend wearing a helmet, knee pads, elbow pads and wrist guards, just in case of falls. Also, I watched a few videos on line to, "Learn How To Ride Your Tomoloo Hoverboard." I highly recommend new owners to watch these videos before trying to ride your new hoverboard. The videos show everything you need to know to ride your board safely. Don't forget to read your owner's manual, it contains many answers you will need to know. My 2 hoverboards purchased for 2 granddaughters lasted on first charge just over 4 hrs. I contacted Tomoloo support and they were able to diagnose the issue (defective charger) and sent us a new one. Update: Disappointed that after 1 year and 2 weeks of ownership, this hover board now only works for maybe 30 seconds and then shuts off. It was working fine a month ago, but now it will suddenly shut down and throw the rider to the ground, so it has become dangerous and unusable. It was good fun while it lasted, so I’m only dropping my review down to 3 stars from its original 5 stars. These Tomoloo hoverboards get really good reviews, and I totally see why. Right out of the box I was really impressed by the build quality. It was a big hit on Christmas morning and all of the kids have gotten great at riding it and have learned some creative moves.
