It took me a while to interpret the instructions that came with this devise, but when I finally gave it a try it worked. Like all electronic things these days there is a significant delay between the time a button is pressed or a switch is flipped and the desired function materializes. The dimmers on the two separate light sources are not very sensitive or workable. They seem to get in the way inasmuch as you can easily turn them on or off when you have no intention to do so. The magnification and picture quality are acceptable. Some place within the instructions you will find a statement that the maximum magnification is 16x. The advertisement on Amazon says 1200x. Here is how I resolved that discrepancy: I placed a 150mm rule in the field of view of the microscope. Next I attached the microscope to a HMDI television monitor with the included HMDI line. One millimeter showed up on the large screen with a 500 millimeter space between the lines that mark the beginning and end of one millimeter on the rule. So I guess you could call that 500x or 500 power. I should add that 500 was not the limit. It could have gone higher but then I would have had nothing to look at or measure on the screen. I would have been looking purely at the space between the lines, but not at any line. I am using this to view the edges of knives that I sharpen. It works very well for that. But I need a more versatile method of illumination to look at knives. I am sure I will figure it out. ... show more

    • Screen freezes occasionally but works good otherwise.

Three times now when I press the on button it starts and the "TOMLOV" logo appears on the screen as normal, however it remains frozen and anything I try will not resolve it. Not being able to turn it off I unplugged it and let the battery die. Plugged it back in and let the battery charge overnight. Pressed the on button the next morning and it started correctly. A minor annoyance because when it malfunctions it's unusable for a day. Works good for identifying coins when it works. I've achieved good results playing with the lighting. Try turning the various lights on or off, change the intensity, move the flex arm lights into different positions, etc. I was struggling with a copper coin and after toying with the lights the letters suddenly popped. If not for that one issue I would give it 5 stars. ... show more

    • No Micro SD Card, no pictures!

MicroSD slot is difficult to access. Suggest you insert MicroSD before mounting the scope on stand, or without other cables attached. The menu for handling photos/files is terrible! Just move the Micro SD card somewhere else for all of that! I need tweezers or a nut pick to get the Micro SD card out of the scope. Also, Micro SD Card goes in with gold contacts facing UP. (Everywhere else I use them, the gold contacts face down.) ... show more

Bought for an elementary age kid’s first microscope. Wow. It is amazing. Pond water blew us away. you can get extremely close up and finesse the lighting settings for the perfect image. The ability to save images to the memory card as well as videos is simply a huge plus. The images are extremely sharp and the screen quality is bright. An amazing bonus is that it has a built-in battery so that it will run even when it’s not plugged into a wall power supply. ... show more

There are only 36 pictures on a card and card is full already, but card is 32 GB. So, I purchased another card in the different store, thinking that possibly reason, but, no, still the same card error coming up on the screen. I lost all weekend to drive to the store, buy another card, but reason is not a card, but something else. So, sent request to return this item. ... show more
