Size: Small
What a perfect design. I couldn't be more happy with this product. I did a lot of research and compared measurements of many products to find a system of camping cookware and water purification that best fit my needs. Since I love titanium for it's strong but lightweight, healthy, and corrosion resistant properties I ended up going with the Health Pro pots, Vargo Bot 700, and this Toaks (small) wood burning stove. This was the perfect addition. This will nest inside the Bot 700 and even though the lid won't screw on, it doesn't interfere with both nesting inside the Health Pro pots. Works as well as the Solostove but much lighter and more compact. By switching to this system I shaved at least a pound and a significant amount of space from my pack. Awesome! ... show more

  • A good compromise.
Size: Small
It sits a bit tall so the thing needs to be pretty full to get the full heat up on the pot, and it is tipper than other wood stoves I have. It stays together well and it is relatively easy to feed. Ventilation is good also. I find it very easy to take apart and stuff away with out getting as completely dirty as the Emberlit makes me, and it stays together better than the Vargo Hexagon. In the case of the Vargo, it not staying together well really makes it something you want to be careful using, Not good. With the Emberlit, the soot on your hands is not a serious problem, as the stove is otherwise amazing, but it is enough to make me less inclined to use it, when I am out walking and just wanting to make some tea. The Toaks is not quite as compact as those stoves, but it still nests well inside the Toaks 750 bail handle pot, with a liiiiitle bit of room to spare to put in something else. I did a Chinese style tea cup, as it is mostly a tea set up for me, but you could do a small supply of fire stuff or some other golf ball sized things and still keep them clean. If you are willing to get your stuff all sooty, there is a bunch more room inside the bag with the stove. I think one small improvement would be a slightly longer bag so that you could stuff it deeper into the stove to make more clean internal space. I think you could use just part of it as a stand for an alcohol stove, but I think that you would have a harder time with fuel tablets or gel. All in all a good stove, and I will have fun with it. ... show more

  • A great wood gas stove. A great part of a cook kit.
Size: Small
This is a great light weight wood gas stove. It burns hot and takes up very little space. This stove along with the toaks siphon alcohol stove creates an amazingly versatile combo. The alcohol stove nests inside the wood stove. The wood stove nests inside my 750 ml pot with bail. I use the wood stove in favorable conditions. If all the wood around is wet I use the top section of the wood stove with the alcohol stove. It is a great stove but it does require attention. If you get distracted for too long you will have to get it going again with a few breaths. ... show more

  • but one that was fueled strictly off of what you could found on the ground for fuel and this stove did not disappoint. from cook
Size: Large
I wanted a cook stove that was not gas, but one that was fueled strictly off of what you could found on the ground for fuel and this stove did not disappoint. from cooking eggs to boiling water and making pasta the stove worked perfectly. Now, this is a fairly small stove and so it burns through the fuel source fairly quickly so it has to be monitored and fed frequently to maintain a fairly consistent heat. The only real learning curve with the stove was discovering that when cooking for longer periods of time which require more and more fuel, that you have to periodically remove the cooking container and move ashes around to get them to drop though the holes in the bottom of the stove so the holes stay clear so the fire can breath properly. If you don't, the stove will not flame up or get hot. Other than that, this stove is very straight forward and simple. I also bought the 1100 ml cooking pot and frying pan. The previous reviews were right and the stove fits perfectly into the pot for convenient and compact storage. The frying pan lid for the cook pot is small but under camping conditions works surprisingly well. The cook pot surprisingly holds quite a bit. I made pasta in it and it was more food than the two of us could eat in one sitting. I was able to bring a full pot of water to a rolling boil in under 5 minutes. The recommendation that I have other than purchasing the 1100ml pot/frying pan lid, is to get the titanium crossbar support that fits on top of the cook stove. It allows for the heating/cooking of smaller containers and cans that have a smaller circumference then the cook stove opening. You cannot get them from amazon and have to go to there website "Toaks.com" and under accessories it is the Wood Stove Cross Bars $2.95 + shipping. Why this is not included with the cook stove is beyond me. ... show more

  • Light, Tough, Stable.
Size: Large
I've been looking into these backpacking wood stoves for a while. I decided on this one because of the increased fuel capacity compared to others on the market, the titanium rather than stainless steel, and because it breaks down into a nice size that's easy to nest in most pots. I am very pleased with the thickness of the material, feeling thicker and sturdier than others while still being very lightweight and quite durable. The only downside i have found is if you want to heat something like a can of soup (or certain sizes of metal mugs) that are a smaller diameter than the outer ring, the pot support doesn't support it. I have found if i take 2 small metal rods (small tent stakes or even a coat hanger would work) and put it across the upper set of holes, it makes a very stable support for smaller diameter things. On the flip side, by not having flimsy bent over tabs supporting your cookware, you don't have to worry about them breaking off 2 days into your trip. Works much better than my pint paint can homemade one. I would highly recommend this stove. ... show more
