It works well for my 390 gallon galvanized Koi pond. We live in the Desert and it dips to 35-40 degrees in the winter so I set it at 80 and it will vary between 68-72 depending on how cold it is. I will also note that I use a small round pool cover to cover and insulte about 75% of my pond to help keep the heat in and temp up. The Side of the pond that my pump is on is where my pond is uncovered and that’s where the oxygen still flows into the pond because you need to still have oxygen going into your pond. ... show more

My 1000 gal fish pond was at risk of freezing today. So, I ordered the 1200w heater, which was the largest I could find on Amazon. The ambient temp is now 30f. I purchased the Submersible Aquarium Heater, 800W/1200W fish tank heater, double tube heating last year to heat my tiny outside fish pond during the winter because it gets cold enough to kill the fish. One day I went outside and it had heated the water to above 90 F and all my fish were dead. I thought this was user error and somehow I messed it up. However, today I went outside during the day and the temperature is set to 72 F and the pond is actively heating although the temperature is 81 F. ... show more

I purchased this heater for my 300 gal outdoor cement pond. Nothing extreme but the temperature drops here at night, even during the summer, and there’s too much shade to allow the sun to warm it up enough during the day. Because of this being outside (NOT designed for outdoor use), I put the plug and control unit inside a weatherproof box. And I strapped the heating unit onto the end of the circulation hose to help disperse the heat. Works great! This heater is a life saver. Had a horrible outbreaks in my 420 gallon garden pond. I did add insulation around the above ground section and covered top except a quarter of it. On the coldest days so far it's keeping my pond of at least 50 degrees. Which is helping while I'm treating my outbreak. I don't have to keep it on full time Thankfully but very impressed with this heater. Fish seem to enjoy hanging around it too. Highly recommend ... show more

Product paperwork and anything else I read said 59 degrees Fahrenheit is lowest setting, I can only get it to go to 68 and at this time of year that's a little warm for what I'm using it for. Bait tank.
