I will tell you guys, this is a must have upgrade, period. Steam Deck sticks, as well as other controllers, will start to drift eventually. Hall effects still is the best thing ever happened to gaming scene to permanently prevent drifting plague. This kit is very very nice and IMO it’s better than competitors. Nicely packed, comes with decent tools, the sticks itself is very high quality and in my case, does not require any calibration at all. But if you do need, instructions is nice and clear. They also comes with pre-soldered touch wire so no soldering job is needed. Simply bold-on and play, cannot be more easier. I really wanted to upgrade my OLED Steam Deck so that I wouldn't have to worry about stick drift, but was nervous about soldering on the stick pads to keep the touch sensitivity. Package came nicely packed with all the tools needed and clear instructions. The oem screws on the oled deck are much easier to work with vs the lcd model so its even easier to install this replacement. Sticks feel great, very close to the oled stock sticks but the tighter feedback is nice for all types of games. I picked these up even though I already had GuiliKit Hall Effect joysticks I recently put into my Steam Deck OLED. I just wasn’t seeing the difference in performance I had hoped to with the zhuilykits sticks but I initially took the sage fought and picked up sticks for a company I was familiar with. I had also recently put TMR Hall Sticks in my sons Switch Lite because the price was right and I really liked how much tighter they felt while gaming. It’s hard to describe but anyone who’s spent hundreds of hours playing FPS’s knows exactly what I’m talking about. So I swapped out my new hall sticks for these TMR Hall Sticks and immediately noticed a positive difference. The sticks give me more precise aiming and movement that I just wasn’t getting before. I really do enjoy these for that reason. The also have a great overall look and pre-install you can already tell there was thought put into their design. The build quality is decent to good and as long as they keep this level of resistance over time I would be hard pressed to recommend anything else. I wouldn’t mind even more resistance but that might make playing non-FPS games more difficult to unplayable. They do swap pretty easy so for some going back and forth with different resistance might be an option. My only suggestion would be to go with a metal ring around the post. I have started to see this in some controllers and this would most defiantly make for smoother play seasons. I typically put rubber bands around the post anyways. But since I put these in I’ve been debating if I even have a need for this at this point so I’ve been living dangerously without. The value for the price will have me ordering more of these in the future for other handhelds I own as they become available. ... show more

    • Excellent Kit for Replacing Stock OLED Steam Deck Joysticks with Hall Effect

Overall it was easier to install than I was expecting. I watched the installation video that HandheldDIY uploaded to YouTube once before attempting the installation, and again while performing the actual installation. I had some weird binding on the first go on the left stick so I took the stick out and tried again and voila, problem solved. The calibration process is easy to perform if you take your time and follow their instructions. I liked that the kit included all of the tools needed for the job making it a worry free affair from start to finish. I like that they do indeed feel a bit tighter than the original joysticks and the dead zone is much smaller as well. I also like the cleaner look of the black sticks on my LE Steam Deck OLED (replacing the orange ones). Overall I'd highly recommend if you are looking to replace your stock sticks due to drift or just for a tighter feel. ... show more

The “instructional” video included with this garbage product has you replacing the sticks while the system is in standby mode and then using hardware buttons on the back to calibrate. Needless to say the sticks didn’t work and guess what else? They are not Hall Effect joysticks. They’re just regular sticks. They do not have the large Hall Effect sensors on the side. I've done many mods on handhelds before but this one was by far the easiest. First off, all of the tools you need are provided for you in the box. The most difficult part is removing the back plate off of the Steam Deck and that's a breeze. There is a video online showing how to do the full install if you're unfamiliar with how to remove it easily. After installing, the calibration tool in the system settings make it super easy to make sure the sticks are calibrated and centered correctly. First impressions, while playing a game, are that they feel great and the extra tension makes a big difference to me. This is not the first product I have bought from these guys and if they keep this up it definitely won't be the last. Great sticks guys, keep up the great work. ... show more
