I tested a few bits on some sheet metal panels and they work great and cut through like butter. I tested it also on some scrap metal that was ping welded and it removed the welds easily and the tips stays strong on 15 or so welds. These bits are for wood and I recall "mild steel". My rating is on these criteria. They work fine on wood and soft metals. They won't scratch hard metals. The bits are pretty soft, and will bend/break with too much pressure. If you're only using them for wood they're fine.

I use these daily. I mainly purchased them for the smaller bits as its not uncommon to snap small drill bits or just flat out loose them during a project at work. When this happens i can just go grab another from this kit and it doesn't hurt like when i break or loose bits from my 200 dollar sets. I've even ended up using the larger bits commonly on softer or odd materials as im not as worried about them being sharp or having melted materials stuck to them. These are not to be confused with quality bits. This kit is NOT comprehensive and when i need a specific size or am drilling through harder materials i will fall back on my German made stuff but for quick holes in random stuff or tiny bits that i am not worried about replacing - this is a great value and time saver. ... show more

We needed so drill bits to do some trailer maintenance while on the road. I had these shipped to a Amazon locker at a truck stop in California. They arrived on time, and at first glance they are very impressive. Nice assortment and in a nice carrying case. We were only drilling out some soft aluminum 1/8th and 3/16th rivets. I wound up going through all 10 of the 3/16 bits because the wouldn’t even cut. 2 out of ten would work. Same thing on the 1/8th inch. And if you apply to much pressure they break. The ones that did work only would do about 4-5 rivets then they were shot. I finally went to a local hardware store and got one of each bits and did the whole trailer…. Prob about 100 rivets. Don’t waste your money on these bits. ... show more

These are ok for wood, but they are definitely not up to even mild, thin steel. It's good that there are so many bits, because every hole in metal with a bit 1/8 or less takes 4 or 5 bits. They break with even a little pressure.
