My wife's health has delayed the projects I purchased this set for, but I was able to drill a couple of test holes. The bit guide centered perfectly and the drill bit cut through the wood like butter. It is the fine quality I have come to expect from Bosch tools. There were a number of larger sets, but all the ones I found were gauged by the metric size of the drill bit rather than the screw size. Since #6, #8, and #10 are the most common screw sizes for hinges, brackets, etc., I preferred to spend a few extra dollars on the Bosch set. ... show more

I'm happy with this purchase. My only issue is that it's not ejecting the chips very well. This results in debris getting stuck down/up in the collar which you must remove at some point in order for the collar to move freely up and down. To do this you need to release the drill bit with a hex wrench and then pull the bit out with some pliers because it's going to be stuck in there. As I've never had any self centering bits before, I don't know if this is a common issue or if it's specific to the Bosch bits. Anyway, I'm still happy with the bits and they sure made drilling a lot of centered holes easy. ... show more

I got some of these from HarbFrei before and the spring on inside slipped and became unusable in one use. These however, many uses later are still going strong and the bits are still sharp enough for a clean drilling.

If you ever drill holes for hinges or door latches, you need this set. Period. I can’t believe how many new/remodeled houses I’ve been in that have the screws going all angles and since they aren’t centered, screws don’t sit flush and create all kinds of problems with doors. Squeaking, not closing completely, marring up the door frames, not latching, etc. If the builders just spent a couple bucks on these bits, not only would they be done quicker, but the finish would actually look professional.
