  • Does not work. UPDATE It was just a lemon
This product does not work. I installed it according to instructions and waited the correct amount of time before turning it on and it just doesn't work at all. I have this for a hatchling YBS 10 gallon tank. Cannot figure out how to contact the seller either. UPDATE: Turns out I was looking for a contact for Tetra when Amazon was the seller. My bad! Any way I initiated a return and they sent me a replacement that works perfectly. It arrived in 2 days and I can drop off the defective one within about 3 weeks at a UPS without even printing a label so I don't even have to deal with refunds for postage or anything. It took about 5 seconds to handle once I realized I was being an idiot. Works great, automatically set to 78 F which is perfect for my baby slider and I have a temp gun to check. So far as soon as the red indicator light comes on I check it and it is right on 77F, and then the indicator light turns off when the temp hits 79 so that is a nice tight little range. I love it. So does my baby. He's so small that he wedges himself between the cord and the side of the tank and passes out like a toddler. In case anyone was concerned, the red indicator light can be easily seen in daytime light but is not a nuisance in the dark. The cord is a nice length and very sturdy and the suction cups are large and powerful. The nice plastic casing around the heater will keep my hatchling from chomping on it when he gets bigger. You literally just tick it in the tank, fill her up, wait 15 min, plug in and you are done. 10/10 recommend, I just happened to get a lemon the first time. ... show more

  • Definitely recommend
Way cheaper than PetSmart or other places. It works and it lasts. I use it in my turtle tank. Doesn't take up much space, it puts of no noise at all it comes apart for cleaning and it is easy to use and install. There is nothing adjustable or speeds it has its own temp and will got off and on when the temperature gets below what it is set to be. Always go buy Watts when buying also depends on the size of your tank but well worth it for the money ... show more

  • Nice for the money
This is a pretty inexpensive heater for a turtle tank. It keeps my 35-gallon tank at a nice cozy 70 degrees (F). Though I have only had it a few days, it seems to be working well and the cage is nice so my turtle cannot hurt herself or the heater. Since she just loves destroying the things we put in her tank, that is really saying something. For the first couple days, we turned off her heat lamp to see how the heater preformed by itself with good results. Of course because it is a turtle, we normally keep a heat lamp on her to create a hot basking spot, which also helps heat the water. If you read some of the other reviews, you notice that the heater does not keep the water as hot as it is set for, which really shouldn't be an issue. It is the perfect product if you want to keep the chill off the water, especially at night or during the winter. Because you need to have a UV lamp for your turtles health, this heater should be just fine for your needs. It got only four stars because it took more than a month to get here. ... show more

  • Puts out good heat
Have 2 for a unheated sunroom turtle pond. About 100 gallons. Keeps the water a good temperature even when it's 10 degrees outside.

  • Don't even bother buying
Says that it takes up to 24hrs to reach temperature it's been like 4 days now and the water is still cold! Doesn't work at all! My turtles are still cold!!! Don't even bother buying.

  • very reliable and effective trustworthy heater
this tank heater works. it Keeps the temperature in my tank between 76 and 78 when I have no heating lamps on and the tank isn't under an open window... my little snappers like to get up on it and crawl on top when its time for me to feed them and take them out of the tank they sit there and wait for me to pick them up .. they can't eat if they are too cold .. if the feeding water tank is too cold or hot or the inside tank is too cold or hot they wont feed properly . so temperature is very important .. this is an excellent product for your turtles. ... show more

  • So far so good!
I needed a heater for my red eared slider’s indoor pond for the winter. I was most concerned with its use in a plastic tub pond but it works great so far. The suction isn’t perfect but that has more to do with the pond surface than the product itself. The price on Amazon is half of what my local pet shops were asking. My 12yr old turtle is loving it! ... show more
