This little adapter was perfect. its not a wide style but a little teeny one. I had my doubts, but it fits solidly on my 2003 civic. it does not wiggle, shimmy, or pop out unexpectedly. it seems to use a 3 or 4 magnet head which holds very tightly to the metal plate that attaches to your phone. I have a generic 3 layer case on my phone, and the magnet will hold it if you place the metal under the first layer of case plastic (if you dont want to use the tape), but it will pop off on a solid bump. Since i have a generic case, i have no issue putting the metal plate on it. It comes with a 3M double sided tape and is VERY VERY VERY THIN. Once i put the met on the outside of the case, you can instantly feel the sold click between magnet and metal. Your airbag will deploy before this thing falls off. You will not notice the metal at all. It WILL interfere with wireless charging The mount rotates and spins to give you the best angle, and since it so small, you can move it to either side of the cd player by a few inches, it does not have to be centered in the player. There is a locknut in the back of the mount that will let you tighten the mount to an exact position. If your phone is wobbly, tighten that locknut. The spring tension feels good, the plastic doesnt feel cheap, you can still play a cd with the mount installed. Since its mainly plastic on plastic tension holding the mount to the cd player, as you pull the phone off the mount a dozen times or so, the mount will start to slip out of the player slightly. Its not broken, just needs to be reseated. Obviously, the more violently you yank your phone off the mount, the more liable the mount is to slip slightly. Whenever i put my phone on the mount, i give it a little side-to-side shake. if it shakes, then i press the button and re-seat it back into the cd player. I use this primarily with a samsung 7edge and occasionally with a note 4, connected to an FM transceiver to play on my old ass cd player.. No problems with either. ... show more

Two points to consider before buying: 1) Check your car CD slot 2) Check your phone casing I drive a 2007 Camry and it fits perfectly in the slot. Doesn't wiggle around. Doesn't block any buttons or functions. It bends the felt lining inside the CD player a little but it doesn't bug me at all (nor will it affect my resale value). Very sturdy. My folks own a 2016 Highlander with a CD player that is curved more diagonally at a slant (maybe 20 degrees from vertical) and the mount wiggles and bounces around more. Definitely manageable, but I'd use a bit more caution when moving my phone around. That being said, it is totally solid in my car. There is enough space inside the CD port to secure both the top and bottom part of the mount mechanism. For a phone case, I use the Caseology Titan Series (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JSZOP1M/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_3) and the circular magnet fits in-between the phone and the case with little noticeable difference. Didn't need to use the adhesive. The case I have is hard rubber so it is malleable enough for the thin magnetic circle. I'd assume that this wouldn't work with a wooden snap on, but I've never tried. I've had this for many years and it's still working out pretty well. I'm currently using an iPhone 12 Pro max and so far it's holding it considering its size. I do, however, want to point out that the front cover (rubber) fell at some point. But no big deal, get a dollar glue and you're all set. For those who don't know, the inside has 4 small magnets that help to hold your phone. Make sure to attach the metal at the back of your phone for better adhesion. Another suggestion is to put the metal slightly on the higher part of your phone. This will give your phone a lesser chance of dropping or rotating while driving. Besides the cover falling off at some point, I'm impressed by the sturdiness of this. It stands the test of time. ... show more

Couldn't push it enough to get it to fit in my CD slot (Acura TLX) where it almost messed up the enterence. Better off going with the next price point up with the knob to get it fully even and apply better pressure.

I gave this device a 5/5 stars because it does do what it's made to do and quite well. However this particular dash wall (Toyota Camry) is flush with the CD-player slot so it fits quite well but in my Pontiac Grand Prix there is a lip protruding above the CD-player slot preventing this device from making magnetic contact with the back of my smartphone. To cure this little problem I bought a magnetic cd-player mount with a neck protruding off it so that it would clear that lip/vent protrusion over my CD-player. This particular one went to my mom's Toyota. Now one more thing and that is about the little adhesive metal plates they give you to stick on the back of your phone or case. The adhesive honestly is crap to put it nicely but I don't think that is this products fault. Most phone cases have textured grip on that backside so when you try to stick one of these to your phone it has a tendency to fall off mid car ride or after the first few bumps you hit. I fixed this problem with a few dabs of super glue and voila it works flawlessly now. You can also buy phone cases with the "circular metal puck" implanted already for you - this didn't work for me stay away from the circular metal adhesive mounts it's just not enough material for the magnet and will fall off on first bump you drive over. The rectangular mount with a little super glue worked fine on the back of my cheap case. Hope this helps.
