Bought this to replace a garbage vent phone mount i bought 5+ yrs ago. The tech has come a long way. I'm thoroughly impressed by this one. The grabber bar really secures a hold against the vent grid so it can't slip off. Then you tighten the adjustment knob and i think there's actually a built in clutch so you can't adjust it too tight. Unbelievable. It bears against the vent over a large surface area so the vent isn't able to adjust unintentionally under the weight of the phone. The arms adjust inward smoothly against the sides of the phone for a secure hold. And there is very fine adjustment potential (you won't be in between gear teeth). The BEST part is the dismounting of the phone. Just wait until you press that button on the back of the frame to release the spring tension.. truly engineered well, coming from an engineer. This works really well. It's very stable and I can use the phone without worrying that the holder will fall out of place. The only problem is this goes on the vent and it blocks the air conditioning from getting to me on hot days. I'm going to see if I can adjust the placement so that I can still get air and still have easy access to the phone. But right now it's in a perfect spot for hands-free driving. At first this didn’t look like it would work on my deep vents, but then it did and now I love it so I bought a second one for my mother. It comes with intuitive instructions for installation, and shows you how to mount the hook onto the AC vent. What is not so intuitive is the phone release button hidden on the back of the top of the phone holder, but once you know that it is there it becomes second-nature to use. The stability is good once properly secured. Performance of the ball and pivot point is easy to adjust and will serve your visibility well. Once it is secure, there is no flopping around, and the phone will hold in place at the exact angle you need it to. This is important for safety, which is my biggest concern when I am using GPS on my 5.8in tall, depth 0.28in, and 2.8 inch wide iPhone 12 Pro. It also is confirmed to hold my mother’s iPhone 14 with her thick phone case attached (see pics in her 2018 Honda CR-V). In conclusion, this car mount phone holder is safe and fulfills its purpose well. It has everything you need for the job at a reasonable price and makes it easy for me to recommend. The only question left is the test of time, but from the looks of it I can see that it is solid enough to pass that test. ... show more
