  • Sweet ring type doorbell, nice price, no cloud required, unless you want it
Style: Battery or Hardwired, 2K 4MP
This thing is amazing!! What I like is that you don't have to sign up for a monthly or annual fee, you can just save stuff on your SIM card. The set up was fairly easy, although I had help from my brother.. the image is clear as a bell, the sound quality is amazing, the doorbell is nice, and I'm overjoyed at the sale price of 20 bucks off last week. Smart little piece of equipment, so glad to have it! ... show more

  • Great video doorbell. But then again, are you surprised? It is TP-Link, after all.
Style: Battery Only, 2K 3MP
I'll write more below, but here's the bottom line: Yes, you should buy this doorbell. It absolutely beats the competitors in this area, including the one made by the company whose shopping platform you're using right now (rhymes with "Sing"). I can't say I'm surprised this doorbell is so good, though. TP-Link clearly thinks carefully about its products and works hard to put out high-quality stuff (I have several other items from TP-Link, and I've always been pleased at how reliable and high-quality their stuff is). Additional details: -Price point is excellent (just under $50 as of the time of this review). Extremely fair. These seem to be on sale regularly, so if you see it listed for a considerably higher price and you can wait, you might want to consider holding off for a bit and coming back a little later to see if they are on sale. -Set up and installation are a breeze and connectivity is great. -Motion detection is great, and you can configure sensitivity and areas for detection. It also supports person detection, vehicle detection, and animal detection (each of which can be further configured with the same options, either as a group so everything has the same settings or independent from one another). I've not tested the vehicle or animal detection, but the person detection is quite good. And if you're getting false positives, you can give the doorbell feedback and it will improve. You can also, of course, tweak the sensitivity of detection. But it's nice to see TP-Link include the option to help train the doorbell. The training occurs locally, for your doorbell only (i.e., it doesn't mean your images will then be sent to the cloud or their servers and used to train their algorithms centrally; they respect your privacy). -You can opt in to their subscription service if you want cloud recording, but I specifically sought out doorbell cameras that permitted local storage only (which is what I favor). Even with local storage, the doorbell is very responsive. -Video quality is excellent. The camera also has an "auto" feature when live streaming to give the highest resolution that makes sense for your connection speed and strength at the time of viewing. -Audio quality is similarly great. It also supports different modes of talking through the doorbell. One works sort of like a walkie-talkie, and one works more like a video call. Answering doorbell rings works like a video call. But you can sneak a peek at who is at your doorbell before "officially" answering (it'll turn audio and video on on the doorbell, but keep your mic muted so they won't know you're screening who's at your door). -Battery life is good. I've seen some complaints about battery life, but I suspect this comes from people not fully charging their doorbell or using it all the time. There's no such thing as infinite battery! Bottom line: If you buy this, I'm confident you'll wonder why you didn't make the move sooner. Say goodbye to whatever competitor version you might have and come on in, the water's just fine. Or, if this is your first foray into smart doorbells, you're in for a treat with this as your introduction. ... show more

  • An overall great Doorbell/Camera
Style: Battery Only, 2K 3MP
The D210 is yet another great smart doorbell from Tapo. Like all Tapo products install is very straight forward and the instructions are easy to understand. In the box you’ll get a few mounting options such as the flat mount, which is what I used, a 15° vertical angle wedge and the hardware needed. The 15° vertical wedge adapter, would be used if you needed to have the camera pointing away from a wall, or if you want to get more in view from either the left or right side. I personally wish it would have also came with the horizontal wedge, which would be good if it was being mounted on angled vinyl siding. Picture quality is fantastic, I absolutely love the wide angle view over the fish eye view that the D130 has. I have had it installed for over a month and with a fair bit of traffic where it’s installed, it still has 80% Battery. I’m anticipating between 4-5 months of use before it needs to be charged again, keep in mind that in high traffic areas, and constant use, will drain the battery much faster. Local Storage is by far the best part. While TP-Link does have the option for cloud storage, I’d much rather have all recordings stored locally. The included chime is nice and loud and the option to change the ringtone is nice, especially for holidays. This is where I have to take some points away from D210. My first con is with the battery, not so much the battery but the lack of being able to connect this to existing wiring to charge it. The D210 is strictly battery based, and will need to be removed to charge. This may not be a big deal and/or may in fact be the only choice someone may have, but at least having the option to connect it to existing wiring would have been nice, like the D225. The second con is that in direct sunlight/lighting, the video can get washed out. The third con is more with the Doorbell Video Call feature of the Tapo App. I have a love/hate relationship with this feature as it works when it wants to. For example, I have a D130 installed at my father’s house. I also have an Amazon Echo Show, with the Tapo skill. When the Tapo Skill is enabled, the echo pulls the video feed and allows you to talk right away, but my phone keeps ringing, and if I answer it, it gives me an error stating the feed is already in use. It’ll also ring on my other devices, like my iPad which keep ringing nonstop. Thankfully with the latest version of the Tapo App, v3.7.1 as of the writing of this, they now allow you to change the notification type between the Doorbell Video Call to Standard Push Notifications. Overall it’s a great doorbell, with a great camera. I wouldn’t necessarily use this in a high traffic area, but if you don’t have a choice, it’s still worth every penny. ... show more

  • Doorbell Heaven !
Style: Battery or Hardwired, 2K 4MP
The D225 4mp QHD camera is outstanding. The software has all the bells and whistles ;-) and is very customizable. However, the biggest highlights are the image, audio, pet/vehicle/package/person detection quality with unlimited zone masking (you can add multiple zones per detection type). It has unlimited power options as well... powered by battery, existing door bell hardwired AC, or both (maintaining full battery as an AC power grid down fail over). It just works and is easy to setup. The D230 is a similar camera, but instead 160 degree camera/5mp instead of the D225's 180 degree camera/4mp. I prefer 160 degree, but the 180 degree works well and some people will need the fuller 180 degree coverage. Both are great. Install Tip!!! Initially, I found that connectivity to the doorbell camera was inconsistent, which I thought it might have been my WIFI signal, but instead, it ended up being that my existing doorbell 16Volt AC - 10 Amp transformer did not appear to have quite enough power. It was replaced with a 16Volt AC - 20 Amp transformer and it now works perfectly. ... show more
