  • 52 Beautiful and Intricately detailed designs – printed one side of great perforated paper
The media could not be loaded. This is beautiful coloring book by Jane Monk filled with hand-drawn designs that is both lovely and extremely well made. The designs in the book cover a wide range and include a good number of tangled abstract designs that will be fun to color as they can be interpreted to be anything. Additionally, there are a good number of flower designs as well as other subjects, too. The artist's style is flowing and fun with many of the designs having very intricate and sophisticated elements. I started with with Ms. Monk's second coloring book “Tangled Gardens” and, after coloring two of the designs in that book, immediately purchased her first book, too. The designs are simply fun to color. As if the designs alone were not enough, the artist has included multiple pages regarding how-to color with various mediums. The information is similar but slightly different in both of her books. Together, they are forming the most comprehensive and useful information I have received outside of actual books on how to draw and color. I'm impressed and will certainly be putting some of Ms. Monk's suggestions into practice – she actually covers a number of medium that I have recently purchased and was slightly hesitant to try. The book is very well made and is slightly smaller than a standard coloring book. The pages are printed on one side of heavyweight bright white perforated paper. Some of the designs extend past the perforations but nothing of note will be missing if you remove the page from the book. The binding is sewn in rather than glued. My markers were a mixed bag when it came to coloring in this book. The only ones that consistently did not leak through were my Staedler triplus fineliners. My Tombows dual end brush did not leak when I used the brush end but did with the marker end. All other markers – both water and alcohol-based leaked through. My gel pens did not leak through but needed extra drying time. My various coloring pencils all worked well. Whatever coloring tools you decide to use, you can either put a heavyweight page below the page you are working on or you can remove the page easily from the book to keep ink from leaking through to the next design. ... show more

  • Beautiful Book in Every Way!
I love this book as do I love its sister book, Tangled Gardens. This book is not only brimming with images for most tastes, the images are on only one side of the paper and the pages are perforated for easy removal. That's so important. It gives you back your artistic license to let loose and try dome different looks before finally settling on the one you like most. Or maybe you'd like to water color an image but wouldn't dare to in a book with regular paper. Now you can do that and much more. The images in the book range from fun and whimsical to brooding and something deeper/ I also wanted to mention the EXCELLENT tutorial pages in the front of the book. They are not the usual "do it like this" lessons. These pages give very spot on advice and methods about how to improve our coloring techniques Even if you are a Michelangelo of the colored pencil set, even you can find something there to help you produce just a little better images. All iin all, if you like whimsical, fun, interesting designs, this is your book. ... show more

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE !!
This book is absolutely gorgeous. The pages are crisp white, heavy and thick and perforated. Images are printed on one side and ranges from simple whimsical drawings to more intricate ones. There are instructions and tips on coloring (shading, various coloring media, techniques to make your coloring "pop" out, etc). I use staedtler triplus fineliner and it did not go through the back. Even with multiple layer of color, the paper held up very well. The paper quality is about equal to the "Secret Garden" and "Enchanted Forest" coloring books, if not better. So all types of media should work fine with this book. It is an excellent choice for people who are just getting into adult coloring books, as well as for the more experienced colorists. LOVE this book and looking forward to her new one! ... show more

  • This book is spectacular! no really!
This book is spectacular! no really! First off the images are wonderful.. if you like Zentangles you will love this book but even if you don't, you will grow to. It ranges from simple to very complex and the paper is wonderful and thick and one sided. Each page is super easy to remove so you can use whatever markers you want with it. One of the best parts of the book however is that along with the 52 pictures to color there are 10+ pages with information on HOW to color… She talks about each type of medium and tips and tricks for each along with color wheel information and fun illustrations even on those instructional pages that make them fun to read as well. You won't be sorry for this purchase! ... show more

  • Love this book!
I took a big chance on this book. There were not previous reviews, no inside photos and no paper description. So glad I did. I love this book. The designs are intricate and whimsical and the paper is a thick, heavy weight with perforations for easy tear out. I use Copic markers which are alcohol based so I chose to tear my pictures out and put a regular piece of copy paper behind them when I was coloring. Definitely bled through with those types of marker, but I expected that. Here are a few pictures of some of the pages and a copy of the one I colored last night. Enjoy! It's very relaxing. You will definitely enjoy this book. ... show more

  • One of my favorites!
This is absolutely one of my FAVORITE adult coloring books. It definitely is very unique and abstract, giving you lots of options to be creative! One of the first things I noticed was in the beginning of the book, it gives a very nice tutorial of the color wheel, different color schemes, & basic ways to color with different mediums. It also has practice areas in the back of the book that match up with the tutorials. The paper is a nice quality, and the pages are perforated and easily removable. The pages vary from simple to very complex, so I would definitely recommend this for people at all levels of coloring! ... show more
