  • Fermented foods has reversed my severe heartburn
I grew up learning how to preserve foods using a pressure cooker type canning pot that my mother inherited from her mother but I never learned how to preserve foodstuffs by fermentation methods. I have been suffering with severe heartburn called GERD that at times refused to be resolved with various medications. But once I started to eat kimchi which is a spicy fermented Napa cabbage before my main meal the symptoms were diminished greatly and now after several weeks of kimchi the heartburn hasn’t been an issue. After reading about the benefits of fermented foods I knew that I had to increase my knowledge of how to ferment different foods and this book has everything I needed to make more types of fermented foods that are not just good for your stomach biome but tasty and can be stored for months. 1500 gives you impression that has more in it. Only 100 recipes. Most recipes can use fresh or freeze dried. So could be any recipe you have at home almost. Some recipes do not include anything freeze dried at all. Cover says 1500... but that is if you use each recipe 15 times. And most of them are not freeze dryer recipes. If you want a book that will help us use freeze dryer in interesting ways to make shelf stable food. This is not your book. ... show more

The editing is horrible, very few actual freeze drying recipes and a mixture of metric and imperial measurements within the same recipe.
