  • Tama Rocks ... no ... I mean really ... it rocks
Style: Drum Pedal Pattern Name: Single
I bought this pedal to replace a Vintage 1976 Rogers pedal for a 22 inch Rogers bass drum. Before I replaced my old pedal I made some upgrades to it. I replaced the spring on the old pedal and that helped tremendously. I replaced the beater on the old drum pedal and that helped only a little bit. The old pedal had a leather strap on it and if you can believe this ... is still in tact. I could see that the leather strap wasn't going to last too much longer and decided to buy this pedal based on the reviews and the cost. That and the fact that I was revamping my 40 year old drum set and thought this would be a cost effective upgrade. Oh boy am I delighted with this pedal! The action / reaction time is so much better than what I have been used to that I almost feel sorry for myself for having to deal with that old pedal for so many years. The chain drive mechanism is masterfully designed with an eloquent radius wrapping system to prevent friction, wear, and noise. The spring system is smart with the turnbuckle adjustment on the bottom that locks into place with generous amounts of nice stainless steel washers. The tension lug has knurled edges to make rotation easy using your fingers. The mounting system is easy, convenient, and heavy duty. The beater is rock solid with a felt cap molded into a plastic housing. The shaft holder has a tried and tested way to adjust the length and angle of attack of the beater shaft ... using a drum key to lock it in position ... smart. All the pieces and parts are replaceable, interchangeable, and standard ... especially with the industry leader Gibraltar manufacturer of drum hardware. I have never used a Tama product before until now. I have only ever used Rogers, Slingerland, Pearl, Zildjan, Remo, Paiste, and Camber. I am now going to have to say that I very much like my first Tama bass drum pedal. Maybe I am not the right person to ask for advice on this subject, but certainly I am not the worst person to ask. Super sexy look. Black iron embedded in chrome finish. Fits foot size 11 foot like a glove. Why am I coming up with all these details? I do it to help you decide on a product just like you help me decide when I read your reviews. I did not get a discount for writing this review. I am not affiliated with the seller or manufacturer in any way. I paid $70 US for this pedal in October of 2017 and think it is a very awesome pedal for that price. My motive is to inspire you to write more detailed reviews to help me become more informed. We can help each other in that way. Oh. One more thing before I go. I advise you to put some material between the bass drum pedal clamp and the bass drum hoop. I used a folded over strip of rubber counter top padding cut to size. It adds a dampening buffer to isolate the pedal and drum. It also protects your hoop from clamp indentations, impressions, or marring. I hope you enjoy your new Tama pedal as much as I do. ... show more

  • This might be the best pedal in this price range
Style: Drum Pedal Pattern Name: Single

  • Excellent kick pedal for secondary kit.
Style: Drum Pedal Pattern Name: Single
I bought this kick pedal to go with my Pearl Compact Traveler. I have started hosting social distancing jams on my back patio, and it is easier to have a portable bass drum pedal the go with my portable kit, rather than detaching the heavy DW 3000 double pedal I have on my full size kit. The Tama pedal is just what I needed. Well made, excellent value, good response. I usually play DW hardware, but while I was doing my research the price on the DW 2000 went up almost $25.00. Also, the DW comes with a beater head that is plastic on both sides. The Tama’s head is plastic on one side, felt on the other. I’ve played a couple of outdoor jams with the Tama so far, and I am very pleased with the product. ... show more

  • Great for the price. maybe Pearl is better.
Style: Drum Pedal Pattern Name: Single
First off, I am happy with my purchase. After my DW 5000 became a bit unreliable and worn out I got a cheap Sonor from a friend as a quick replacement. I noticed that pedal manufacture sure has advanced in strides since 2001, when I got my DW 5000. Now mid range pedals are as good if not better than that one. So I started looking. Having a simple Tama pedal on a cocktail kit, and having had a Speed Cobra longboard (which I took back, long boards ended up not being my thing) I saw the overall construction and look of this pedal and went with it. Didn't get the Pearl Demonator, having seen it has one pillar... The Sonor Perfect Balance is a one pillar and I love it... used to have a VERY OLD Tama King Beat back in the day... another one pillar.. but just by having seen it online I went with my gut. A few weeks back I finally saw one on a friend's room... and the Pearl has more refined action. However THIS PEDAL feels solid... comes with a great beater that provides a nice fat tone. And looks pretty damn good. So I recommend it! ... show more

  • It will work for beginners, it’s not a bad start.
Style: Drum Pedal Pattern Name: Single
This is a good single bass pedal, great swing action. Is it ideal for beginners? I don’t know. I started with your run-of-the-mill piece of junk, at 11 years-old. Graduated to a DW9000 double pedal, by 20. The DW quality is not too far removed from the Tama, here. The Tama pedal is simpler than the DW; but the sturdiness and tight connection to the bass drum’s bottom rim, makes it a great choice for drummers at many levels of experience or skill. ... show more

  • Great budget pedal but it would be a good semi pro pedal in a higher price bracket.
Style: Drum Pedal Pattern Name: Single
Great deal. The cost is great but this would be considered a good deal at a higher cost. I love the feel of this, easy to control and I think it’s tough enough for most drummers. My only problem is it tends to slip a little over time on the hoop. Nothing crazy. I’ve had to readjust just a couple of times. If I got down on the floor to crank it tighter it would probably correct this but I’m lazy. Good buy! ... show more

  • Good fast drumming
Style: Drum Pedal Pattern Name: Single
This petal increased my playing immeasurably. I used to think that other drummers were so much better than me. Now I realize that they just had better equipment. I would highly recommend.
