    • great little machine that really lifts grime
I had never used anything like this before, but I’m always looking for ways to make cleaning easier and more enjoyable. The easier (and more fun) it is to clean, the better I am at keeping up with housework. I’ve seen a lot of people talk about machines like this lately, so I wanted to try it out for myself. This steam cleaner comes with a lot of attachments, so it took me some time reading the manual to understand which attachment does what and how to connect them. After reading the manual and doing a bit of trial and error, I figured out how to use everything. The manual had some good beginner info but didn’t cover everything. I watched a few video tutorials before I felt confident, and I’d recommend others do the same. It’s best to use distilled water with this, or filtered water if distilled isn’t available. Tap water should be a last resort since minerals can build up in the machine over time. Using purer water helps keep minerals and gunk from building up in the tank and can extend the life of the machine. The steam cleaner heats up quickly—you only need to plug it in for a few minutes before it’s ready. There’s an indicator light that shows when it’s hot enough. I left it plugged in the whole time I was cleaning, and it paused every so often to re-heat. I’m not sure if you could use it far from an outlet since it needs to keep re-heating the water after you release some steam. At first, I was a little unsure how hot the steam would be, so I tested it on a bathroom sink that already had a bit of wear, just in case. It worked amazingly well! It lifted soap scum, dust, hair, and toothpaste with no problem and didn’t damage the surface at all. I ended up using it to clean the bathroom sink, toilet (tank, seat, bowl exterior), mirrors, and even the bottles on the counter. I was curious if the steam might melt a thin plastic bottle like a Listerine one, but even holding the nozzle close, it caused no damage. Using the steam cleaner made cleaning the whole bathroom faster and easier than using sprays or wipes. Since I have pets, I usually have to clean twice—once to pick up hair and dust and another to actually sanitize. With this, I only needed one pass, and everything came up nicely. It only fills with about a cup of water at a time but it also only took about half of that to clean my entire bathroom. You have to wait for it to cool and depressurize before you refill it, so you can't refill it right away if you're still in the middle of cleaning, but one fill-up should be plenty for most cleaning jobs. I’m very excited to keep using this and would definitely recommend it! A few tips: 1. It’s loud! Wear headphones or ear protection if possible, and know that it may scare pets. 2. It creates a lot of steam, similar to a fog machine. The steam fades pretty quickly, but if you’re in a small space or around anything sensitive to humidity, keep this in mind. After cleaning, I ran the bathroom vent for a few minutes to dehumidify the room. 3. The unit gets warm to the touch after a few minutes. It’s not hot enough to burn you, but it’s something to be aware of. 4. When you’re done, release any leftover steam to depressurize the unit, unscrew the top, and let it cool and dry before putting it away. We got this and already used it for two steam projects! First, we used it to steam off a sticky film that was applied to a glass surface. We took it nice and slow, and within a few minutes, the sticky film separated from the glass and we were able to pull it off entirely. Second, we tried it to clean the grout and tile in the shower. We went over and over it. It did make a difference, but it didn’t restore it to a perfectly clean “like-new” condition. It doesn’t clean the grout as well as bleach does. We will keep trying it for different purposes. It was a great experience using this product so far. They provided a measuring cup and a funnel, so it’s easy to fill up with water (we used distilled water). It begins steaming very quickly, so we didn’t have to wait too long to use it. It’s not too heavy, so it’s easy to hold, even with just one hand. We love the handle lock so we don’t have to continue to press the handle to steam. The exterior didn’t get hot, so there’s nothing to burn you (other than the steam coming out). There are lots of different attachments for different purposes and they are all easy to use. The long-handled extension wand was particularly useful. We appreciated the 10’ long cord, too. One issue we experienced was not being able to open the top when we were done using it. We discovered that this is a safety precaution. The top will not come off until there is no longer steam or pressure within the unit. This keeps you from getting burned by steam coming out the top. You just have to wait until it cools down completely, then you have to press down on the top, turn it back a little to engage it, and then you can twist it off. Everything about this product is excellent quality. The steamer itself and all the attachments are made very well and seem sturdy and durable. The steam comes out the end of the nozzle or attachments with some pressure and does a great job cleaning and sanitizing surfaces.     • powerful little steamer
I certainly like the utility of a good steam cleaner, and this little one is a very compact unit, that is plenty powerful. I used the brush attachment to clean the grout in my shower, and while it took a little while, it did do an effective job. I gave it a try on some of the grout in my kitchen, and it was pretty effective there as well. The size is convenient for handheld applications, and the steamer is very simple to operate. I like the idea of using steam rather than chemicals in some instances, because of the fact that I have cats that I'd rather not come in contact with cleaning agents, if I can avoid it. I found the fill cap a little fiddly. Getting it to open sometimes can be a bit of a challenge. You really have to press down with some force in order for it to catch, so that can be annoying. It's not the largest steamer, and the capacity is only 350 milliliters of water. That being said, I did find that it lasted a decent amount of time, before needing a refill. All in all, it's an effective way to clean stubborn stains and marks, and one that is friendly to pets and little children, if you want to avoid chemical cleaning products. I actually have some wallpaper that I've been meaning to remove, and will be giving it a try to loosen up the glue on the wallpaper. I suspect given its size it may take a while, but the paper has been on the wall for so long that I think it'll require the assistance of a good steamer, to loosen the grip of the glue.
