🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The Bissell Steam Mop has garnered mixed reviews but overall favorable ones. Customers have described the mop as efficient, powerful, and capable of making floors shine. However, issues around its durability were raised along with aspects like the fit of the mop pads and the functionality of the scrub brush. Despite this, the positives seemed to outweigh the negatives as users loved the cleanliness and freshness the mop brought to their floors.

Pros

  • 🔹 Provides a high steam output for efficient cleaning
  • 🔸 Lightweight and easy to maneuver around homes
  • 🔹 Long cord length that facilitates seamless cleaning of large spaces
  • 🔸 Had impressive results on various surfaces including tiles and hardwood floors
  • 🔹 The mop leaves floors feeling smooth and clean

Cons

  • 🔻 Durability issues have been reported, with some units malfunctioning within a year
  • 🔸 The mop pads are a tight fit and can be difficult to change
  • 🔻 The mop doesn't lock in place when standing up
  • 🔸 The scrub brush tends to pop off when too much pressure is applied

Should I Buy It?

Despite minor issues with durability and certain design elements, the Bissell Steam Mop performs well and delivers a high level of cleanliness. Its benefits well outweigh its cons, and it would be a worthwhile purchase for those looking to eliminate traditional mopping with a bucket. As long as expectations are managed about the durability and consumers are ready to handle some of its design quirks, this should be a great addition to most homes.

  • It’s amazing!
Style: Powerfresh
It’s very easy to use and lightweight. I have used it every day since I received it. It comes with two pads, one for lighter cleaning and one that’s for more deeper cleaning. They’re equally good at cleaning but I definitely noticed a difference in the crevices of my tile when I switched to the heavier/textured pad. The brush option is perfect for grout! Very easy to switch to the brush option, you just press the foot pedal and pull the steamer off the pad, very easy! I tried it on my laminate flooring and it streaked but that’s my fault, the pad was too wet. There is a little slot for a scented disc, I think it’s a great idea actually but the scent isn’t really my style. I’m hoping they make other scents, it works very well and really fills the room with the aroma. I will be purchasing extra pads, I have quite a bit of floor space and once the pad gets soaked, it needs to be replaced. Just buy it! ... show more

  • Very Good!
Style: Powerfresh
I wanted a mop that was lightweight, easy to maneuver, did not require the use of cleaning powders or liquids, reduced bacteria and virus’ , stores easily in as small a space as possible. I ordered this Bissell and basically got exactly what I wanted! i have used a steam cleaner in the past (like 20 years ago) - it was a canister model that did a decent job but was a bit clunky to lug about. As age encroaches I found that I wanted a lighter, easier to manage steam mop that was light, easy to use, and cleaned like a wizard. I started doing some research and landed i. the Bissel. I am sensitive to many cleaning products. Steam sanitizes without the need for cleaning products! This model is easier to use and has very few - if any- negatives. Pros: * Lightweight * Very easy to maneuver. The cleaning head swivels to get into most any odd shaped or small area. * Produces prodigious steam in very little time. * Has two steam settings : regular steam and prodigious steam! * Easy to refill with water * Simple and intuitive to use. * The cleaning pads are well made, fit securely, clean very well and wash up perfectly. To me thats’s a win! Potential Cons * For anyone with arthritis in your hands and wrists - the handle could use a bit of padding. Certainly not a deal breaker but thought I would mention it. * Uses distilled water. I drink filtered water and I think that it will be sufficient - does not use all that much! I used it on vinyl flooring, LVP flooring, and tile flooring and it worked like a champ on all of them. Good product. Reasonable price. Clean, sanitized, floors! ... show more

  • Cleans well
Style: Powerfresh
This steam mop is great and cleans well. I had a spin mop before this which was fine, but this steam mop really makes cleaning easier and it deep cleans well. This is a must for anyone who has a baby that is learning to crawl/walk or if you’re like me, for anyone who doesn’t wear shoes inside and likes to have socks that don’t turn brown on the sole. I have pets so cleaning my floors weekly is a must. This mop is well worth the money. The only downside is the mop replacement heads are a little pricey. About $20 something for two mop heads. I make sure to get the BISSELL brand mop heads that fit this model. I’m afraid to buy mop heads made from any other brand as they may not fit or last long. The quality of the mop heads are great. I buy distilled water; per the instructions, it’s best to use distilled water as tap water may damage the internal components. Every state’s tap water is different, and I’m sure some state’s tap water contain high levels of minerals and such which can deteriorate the internal components and possibly create rust. A generic gallon size jug of distilled water is about $1-$2 so it’s worth it if that means my steam mop’s life will extend. ... show more

  • Works fabulously but life span is short - going to try distilled water only
Style: Powerfresh
I am now choosing this mop for the THIRD time. Am I a fool? Maybe. The first Bissell 1806 mop I bought worked exceptionally but stopped making steam after about 9 mos. I called Bissell and they sent me out another one, as it was under warranty. That mop worked fine for just over 2 years, then it also stopped creating steam. Now that one is headed to the landfill; warranty is expired. Unless you buy an extended warranty for 3 years, this seems to be a 2-year-life-span-maximum mop. Bummer. However, I really like the functionality of this mop, hence the reason why I just bought the same one yet AGAIN - even after consulting consumer reports and looking at what the new competition is! I really love how you can easily (while mopping) pop off the mop head with the foot release to expose the brush head and scrub at tough, stuck-on messes or even scrub the grout on a tile floor with ease... and it really gets it clean! Then you can just insert it back in the mop head and move on. The water tank is a decent size, and the cord is 25 feet which is fairly long. The water gets hot, hot, hot! And fairly quickly. There are other mops that have the scrubber/brush head but you have to stop the mop and change the heads. Not convenient and you might have to wait for the mop head to cool down. I am thinking that my hard water in my area is what is eventually killed my second steam mop, so I'm going to try distilled water only from now on, and will even try the new scented distilled waters on the market. We'll see how that goes. I took away one star because of the shorter life span, (I don' think hard water killed my first Bissell 1806) but otherwise this is a 5 star steam mop in my book. ... show more
