I like this little steamer a lot! I was tempted to give it 4 stars but based on its price vs capabilities, decided to give it 5. I cook a lot and my kitchen does not have great ventilation. Because of this, cooking grease and residue builds up on surfaces. I was looking for something compact that was easy to use and powerful enough to blast through the grime. I am very pleased with the results! Not only did it do a great job with the grease but I was also able to use it to clean set in dirt from a threshold and also get baked on residue off of the inside of my oven door! Some of the reviewers have said that the sensor switches from green to red often and while this is true, I did not find it to be an issue - The steam pressure inside just needs to build up while you are using it. While I am sure that there may be more robust models out there, I have found this machine to be useful, easy to handle and includes great accessories for the price. If you are in the market for a light duty, daily cleaning machine, you will be happy with this one. ... show more

    • Defrost your deep freezer!
It was an emergency. Our deep freezer had an inch of rime ice inside and was running warm outside.There was quite a bit of food stored — too much to put in coolers or our kitchen fridge. I needed to defrost the freezer as quickly as possible. Somehow I got the idea of blasting through the ice with a hot jet of ???? I was thinking about a laser when I stumbled on the idea of a steam cleaner and found the McCulloch MC130. Please note that the manufacturer makes no claim about suitability of its steam cleaner for defrosting deep freezers. Nevertheless, it worked great. Start to finish, including unboxing the unit, removing the food, doing the job, returning the food and cleanup, it took me only 1.5 hours compared to 4 to 6 or even days. Bonus: it was fun!     • Good price point for the quality of machine!
its a great little unit, for the price point. However the water capacity is quite small so I find myself having to refill quite a bit in order to finish larger projects. The cord is crazy long, it'll definitely reach where you need to go with it as long as you have plug ins available. I do wish the unit came with an extra spongy attachment, a softer brush attachment, and potentially a cloth that could be put around an attachment so it doesn’t scratch more delicate surfaces. ... show more

Product is well made. Heats quickly. Water reservoir is a bit small, but the product does produce a steady stream of steam until empty. Nice selection of attachments which help with the cleaning.     • Very poor performance
I have now used this several times and tried all of the different troubleshooting tips, but the performance of this unit is very very poor. I am not sure if the thermostat range is much too broad or if the heating element is not near powerful enough a combination of the two or something else. Even if you let it heat up the water for 10 minutes I don’t think it gets any hotter once it goes from red to green. Once it is green, it gives a very powerful and hot blast of steam but only for one or two seconds and then diminishes very quickly after that, unfortunately you cannot just stop after that initial one or two seconds and let it heat up again, because the light is still green. So you have to keep the trigger pulled For about 10 seconds before, it has diminished enough for the thermostat to trip the heating element and the red light and start heating the water again. Unfortunately, by that point the steam is so weak that you can hold your hand only a few inches in front of it and not be burned.. Once it begins heating again then you have to wait about 30 seconds or so for it to heat back up. So, in the end, you only get about one to two seconds of actual good steam cleaning power per 40 seconds of wait time, And in the meantime, you are wasting the majority of your distilled water just trying to get the heating element to kick back on again.     • Ok...but
The steamer works fine and has lots of attachments. The problem is the water tank capacity...it is very small and it's pretty useless to try to do anything except clean a small area. I'm keeping it for small jobs, but it won't work for deep cleaning a barbecue like I'd hoped.

    • Makes cleaning easier
I got this specifically to clean my shower which had a layer of iron from our hard water on the bottom half. I am happy to report that this steam cleaner helped get that grim off. It did take refilling the reservoir a few times, but it was a big job. I bet if I keep up with it I won't need to refill. I also did my kitchen countertops and my microwave. I am most impressed with the microwave, it looks brand new. It also got a stain off my toilet seat that no cleaner had gotten off. Similar to the other reviews, yes the reservoir can need a refill, but the number of accessories and price make this a great product to have in your house to keep up with some cleanings. ... show more
