First off,these are some of the cheapest rubber hex dumbbells out there. In addition they work great and are quieter and more durable if you drop them compared to cast iron dumbbells. The grip is comfortable and perfectly wide. I got the 25 pound ones, so they arrived in a box that weighted 50 pounds, and when they arrived they were sort of greasy and smelled of factory rubber, BUT all I had to do with these was wash them with a bit of dish soap and the grease and smell melted away! ... show more

The instructions could have been way better. You do figure it out once you start building it. Tools to build came with it. Don't tighten it all the way until it's all completely put together. I kept thinking I was good, and kept having to loosen it. The rack is sturdy. The weights have to sit over the top lip, but it does hold them from sliding off. I haven't had any fall. See photo. It's a good size and will hold 600lbs total. It holds the 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 plus more space. It only came with the 25lbs weights. I ordered the other ones separately. They all came with a oil on them I had to wash off. Probably to keep the plastic from drying out, but it was gross. The frame was not too bad by itself. The rack and the weights were in the box too. If you move the box, I recommend taking the 25lb weights out first. ... show more

For me it was a long story. As many other in this stay-at-home time I decided to equip myself with the minimum stuff for exercising. I expected that dumbbells will be the easiest and the cheapest part - it's just a piece of metal after all. My naïve expectation was between 50 and 90 bucks. Turns out that I was so mistaken. Much more complex things (like benches) cost much less, while this "just metal" stuff is pretty expensive from all suppliers. And I needed many different weights for different exercises. An obvious solution was to choose one of variety adjustable dumbbells. I found an adjustable dumbbells totaling 105 pounds at about $100. Delivery wait time was long - about two month, but even after that I received nothing. Maybe I aimed too cheap. So I started investigating the topic more. And found (from customer reviews) that almost all providers of "adjustable" weights are pretty suspicious - wait time is too long, parts are missing, product is broken, adjustment is inconvenient, locking is unreliable, etc. I had to look at more expensive stuff. Found something at $600 (oh, that was so much higher than I expected in the beginning). And when I was almost ready to order it, I realized that all such "adjustable" dumbbells have too wide gripping bars - more than 17" (a space is needed by design to allow weights combination). I realized that this will make most my exercises difficult or impossible to do (I need to lift and rotate them, keeping them close to each other, which would be impossible with such wide bars). So I switched my search to fixed-weight dumbbells which I originally skipped as too expensive considering that I needed several different weights. But at this time me price expectation has been lifted enough to make such solutions comparatively acceptable. To begin, I ordered just one pair for $123. It arrived in just few days in a good double-layered box. I tried them and immediately felt that this is exactly what I needed - easy to grab, easy to switch to other weights, comfortable and reliable for exercising. I’m very happy with this purchase! Will warn they do smell like chemicals when you first open and there was a yellowish, oily residue on the weight. I'm really hoping that I just got a bad batch, because I've ordered several different Sporzon dumbbells in the past and this it the first time I've had these issues. The pair came in the same box, but they obviously didn't come from the same casting, because one was a half inch longer, the poundage font was different and was covered in a heavy grease-like substance that was not only impossible to remove, but also caused a rash when it came in contact with my skin. Also, one of the metal handles looked like someone had accidentally hit it with an angle grinder. I already put in for a replacement set, so hopefully this problem will be fixed and then I can UPDATE my review to again being a happy customer. ... show more
