  • Best Buy For The Money lb per lb
This set of dumbbells are awesome. First they are a great space saver. Second, they are safe and quick to adjust. Also, there are many other mechanical adjustable dumbbells that are similar but the weights get stuck as the locking system wares down over time. However, this system is not mechanical, the adjustable pin system is easy to use and never fails to slide out the weight amount as you need, it's full proof and they never get stuck. The paint finish and quality are excellent. Also, I like the smaller foot print of their design and I though they would be awkward to handle but just the opposite is true. Since they are compact I feel I can handle the heavier weight with more control. I am close to 60 and for me 50 lbs is probably enough for most exercises, but for certain exercises such as shoulder shrugs I can still jump up to 70lbs on each hand. I like that I can increase to 90 lbs but I probably won't need to get there I my age. Regardless, if you're not a professional body builder and plan on exceeding 90lbs on each hand these are a great deal and product. I am extremely happy I bought them as they have done an amazing job with the design and the person who created this system really though outside the box. Oh and by the way, the box design is also a bonus especially when you go heavy and you plant them on top of your knees to kick them up for a dumbbell press. You'll see if you buy them. BTW, I don't have any endorsement with this company I just was impressed with the overall value I received, I know a good product when I use one and this is a great product. ... show more

  • Better than expected - love the powerblocks!
I bought these based on the vast number of people that seem to love them and say that they'll last a lifetime. I admit I was skeptical about the design - sticking my hand inside the box did NOT look comfortable. Fortunately, I had nothing to worry about - the weights feel natural and easy to grasp and lift in a variety of exercises and configurations. I typically start my easiest exercises with just the bare frame, which is 5 pounds by itself and can have the 2 2.5-pound "adder" weights to get to 10 pounds. Then the next frame/weights start at 15 without the adder weights, 17.5 pounds with one adder weight, 20 pounds with both adder weights. Each subsequent frame starts at 15, 25, 35, etc. Even though I read reviews saying that they can feel unbalanced for exercises like bicep curls, that has not been my experience. In the two weeks since I got the powerblocks, I've actually progressed from maxing out bicep curls at 15 pounds to 22.5! Overall, these are helping me keep good form while progressing slowly to increase weight and Lift Heavy Stuff (LHS for you ladies who know what I mean). As someone who hates going to a gym, these are the best purchase I've made for home workouts. Cannot recommend enough! ... show more

  • Great adjustable dumbbells
Edit 12/4/23 I bought the last expansion pack to complete the set from 5-90lbs. Original review: Unlike some others I got my dumbbells and plastic selector rods intact although one box was a little beat up otherwise it survived the delivery process. The box seemed to be taped together to denote a pair but the tape was only on one box so it was probably separated on purpose and address labels were on both boxes. Opening the boxes reveals the selector rods on top of a styrofoam covering the dumbbells and it is cradled on a form fitted styrofoam bottom for travel but I would not be surprised if there are accidents when shipping. I had the bowflex 552 for 12 years and wanted to expand the weight of the dumbbells so I picked up the power blocks I don’t have a gym membership and I’ve been working out at home for 20 years. So I’m not too familiar with the single weight dumbbells. But weight is weight their prob more compact and it more stable than adjustable dumbbells. When I first received I didn’t like the rubber grip because it felt greasy. It was slipping from my grip so I cleaned it with a Clorox wipe and it has improved drastically. I don’t know why people hate the cage of the hand that much. I like the cage handle. I actually turn the weight so when I pick it up the padded cage “bars” leans on my wrist so I use that to stabilize the weight as I perform my dumbbell bench pressing. This is an advantage I feel. The annoying thing is the two 2.5 adder weights to add or subtract for smaller incremental increases or decreases. On this powerblock the adder weight chamber gets locked as you return the handle to the weights. You won’t be able to operate the blocks without closing them. Also need to be mindful of the rod selector as you are choosing your weight make sure its level and is capturing the weight you want. It can easily go in lopsided Another thing I found was that when you’re doing bicep curls the red tab can get snagged on your pants/shorts as you’re curling up. I have rectified it by turning the block 180 degrees so those tabs are on the outside so it won’t snag. Also do not drop these weights it might get twisted and a bit mangled Although there is no cradle you still have to return the weights gently into the weight stack. The weights feel great in the hand and it smaller when your using less weight as opposed to the bowflex 552 which has the same length through out. OverallI recommend these weghts for your gym ... show more

  • Excellent price point, well built, easy to use, gets the job done
This product has a simple, elegant, and clever design. It is solid and sturdy with no moving parts / spinning gears, making it easy to use and very durable in the long term. I think that this combination of simple and effective makes these dumbells an exceptional value at this price point (they are likely cheaper to produce than other more complicated designs). Quite frankly, while shopping around, other similar products just look like they are going to break, have weird gaps in the weights depending on the weight selected, and so on. Swapping between the 10 lb increments takes just a few seconds. Adding / subtracting the 2.5 lb increments takes another 15-20 seconds. Overall, there is no comparison to the standard plate twist dumb bell bars that this is likely replacing for most buyers. In summary, if you're in the market for reasonably priced adjustable dumbbells, i highly recommend this product. Its simple, effective, durable, and reasonably priced. ... show more
