We went from moving from a house to an RV so we needed to find an efficient compact way to still workout on the road vs standard dumbbells. These are easy to use. They take some time to setup as you workout but it is what we were looking for and needed in our compact space. I love how the grip is perfect to hold, not too small and not too thick. The square shape i prefer to be honest over the standard dumbbells because they are easy to align when bench pressing or using them for pushups. I also bought the straight bar! Very nice. This set of dumbbells are awesome. First they are a great space saver. Second, they are safe and quick to adjust. Also, there are many other mechanical adjustable dumbbells that are similar but the weights get stuck as the locking system wares down over time. However, this system is not mechanical, the adjustable pin system is easy to use and never fails to slide out the weight amount as you need, it's full proof and they never get stuck. The paint finish and quality are excellent. Also, I like the smaller foot print of their design and I though they would be awkward to handle but just the opposite is true. Since they are compact I feel I can handle the heavier weight with more control. I am close to 60 and for me 50 lbs is probably enough for most exercises, but for certain exercises such as shoulder shrugs I can still jump up to 70lbs on each hand. I like that I can increase to 90 lbs but I probably won't need to get there I my age. Regardless, if you're not a professional body builder and plan on exceeding 90lbs on each hand these are a great deal and product. I am extremely happy I bought them as they have done an amazing job with the design and the person who created this system really though outside the box. Oh and by the way, the box design is also a bonus especially when you go heavy and you plant them on top of your knees to kick them up for a dumbbell press. You'll see if you buy them. BTW, I don't have any endorsement with this company I just was impressed with the overall value I received, I know a good product when I use one and this is a great product. ... show more

Really what more can you say about a weight? Alright I suppose there's a little more for these. Unlike some of the other reviewers here and for a lot of other adjustable dumbbells, I was happy to see that everything came out of the box totally intact. Now that it's all out of the boxes (yes it's two and that's a good thing for everyone involved), it's all really easy to adjust and feels solid in the hand. I think you actually could adjust these down quickly enough to use 'em for monster sets of at least some exercises, which is a common complaint I see for a lot of adjustables, but you'll probably want to avoid messing with the adder weights during that. Adding and removing plates is practically free, but to remove one adder from one dumbbell, you need to return the dumbbell to the stack, remove the selector, pull just the core out, flip the lever, cover one hole and dump the weight out before putting it...somewhere (if you don't buy their stand, I'd suggest figuring out a good place for those), flip the lever again, return the core to the stack, and put the selector where you want it. So if you want to go 50->40->30 and so on, that'll be pretty speedy, but if you want to go 50->47.5->45->40, you might be better off grabbing something else for those sets. The cage design was also something I was worried about with these. First thought being that I wear a smartwatch to keep an eye on myself during my workouts, and I'm glad to say that my watch gets nowhere between those bars and sits several inches above them. I'm right there with others on one shortcoming of the design though: if you tend to rest your weights on your thighs before a set, it might be a bit less comfortable than doing so with hex dumbbells. No sharp corners or anything to worry about, but I guess the latter always worked for me because it was mainly my hands making contact with my legs there. Now it's mostly tubes and it just feels, like I said, less comfy. ... show more

    • Excellent price point, well built, easy to use, gets the job done
This product has a simple, elegant, and clever design. It is solid and sturdy with no moving parts / spinning gears, making it easy to use and very durable in the long term. I think that this combination of simple and effective makes these dumbells an exceptional value at this price point (they are likely cheaper to produce than other more complicated designs). Quite frankly, while shopping around, other similar products just look like they are going to break, have weird gaps in the weights depending on the weight selected, and so on. Swapping between the 10 lb increments takes just a few seconds. Adding / subtracting the 2.5 lb increments takes another 15-20 seconds. Overall, there is no comparison to the standard plate twist dumb bell bars that this is likely replacing for most buyers. In summary, if you're in the market for reasonably priced adjustable dumbbells, i highly recommend this product. Its simple, effective, durable, and reasonably priced. ... show more
