I originally ordered this around 10 May with an estimated delivery date of 16-19 May (free standard shipping), and was pleasantly surprised with it arrived on 12 May....great job on the fulfillment and shipping. When it got here, I did see damage to the outside box (one whole edge of the box was open exposing the internal foam protection). Concerned, I immediately opened it up and set up and inspected everything. Thankfully, the Bowflex people did an awesome job packing it at the factory, because none of it was damaged. When I ordered this, I was looking for a complete dumbbell set that wasn't going to take up half of the small duplex unit I currently own and live in, so this fits the bill on that end. After reading the instructions, and performing the recommended monthly check, I used them. I set them for 15 lbs, and did my normal weight training circuit routine. The units performed as advertised. I had no problems dialing up the weight, and nothing fell off while using them (this was a problem in some reviews I read, so I checked this out to make sure those things didn't happen). There are some people who complain these weights are too long......here's the deal, they are designed to hold 50 lbs of weight. If you go to any sporting goods store or your local gym and look at 50lb dumbbells, they are going to be the same size. It's just the way it is, so expect it when you get them home to use them. All in all, I like what I see so far. The price saved me money over buying individual dumbbells separately, and these won't take up room like the individual dumbbells will either. They also work well, and feel rock solid. Not for everybody, but someone who is serious about weight training that doesn't have a lot of space, at $299 they are the good bargain. ... show more

I bought a set of Bowflex dumbbells in 2012 and am still using them. They have never jammed or otherwise malfunctioned. They adjust smoothly and easily. The only drawback is their length, although I quickly adjusted to that and can safely do skull crushers with them. I bought a stand for them to keep them off my basement floor in case of flooding. They are expensive but I consider them a good investment because of their quality. My son was impressed with my set and bought a set for his apartment but did not get a stand because he believed that bending over to adjust the dumbbells was a good addition to his workout. ... show more

Pros The product is easy to use and understand. The weights are well balanced. The grip is comfortable. The adjustable knob is extremely smooth and feels well designed. I really like ability to adjust the sides to different weights, it allows for more exercise variations than possible with traditional dumbbells. The wide range of weights available allow me to use this product for all types of muscle building. The total volume of this product is small, making it ideal for storing in small areas. I've had noticable gains within the first month of this product! Cons The only thing I don't like about the product is that they are always big, even when they are light. The 5 lbs setting is just as long of a dumbbell as the the 52.5 lbs setting. So, while a large dumbbell being 52.5 lbs isn't really a problem, sometimes it is problematic to have a 5 lbs dumbbell taking up so much space. It could limit your ability to maneuver the dumbbells during certain exercises. Price I would say it was priced exactly what it is worth. Although, considering the costs of going to the gym, or the cost of buying individual dumbbells for each weight, the cost of this product is actually pretty low. ... show more

Quality. I've used tons of equipment over the years. Adjustable dumbbells of all sorts. These, to date, are the best I've used. They are also hands down the most expensive. You get what you pay for. They are packaged up in such a way that nothing shakes loose or could get damaged (aside from personal injury lifting/dropping them). They look nice, which I suppose isn't something you would care much about initially--until you have a set of the PowerBlock dumbbells sitting in the corner of your workout space looking like some type of tie-dye experiment gone wrong. They look like they belong, and they look like some consideration was taken to ensure you wouldn't say "They are nice, but they look like a my little pony's nightmare." Joking aside these have a great feel. The plastic stands in the photo do come with the dumbbells, and make a nice place to set them since they hold the weights you aren't using at the time. If you select, say, 35lbs the remaining weights from the dumbbell sit nicely in the base as you perform your exercise--then it all clicks right back into place when you set it down. Super handy, not clumsy, and easy to use. Speaking of the ease of use I should mention the grips. The grip of these is a nice semi-soft rubber material and it generally feels like an average sized dumbbell grip if not slightly larger. Having used the PowerBlocks (which I found to "work" but be pretty clumsy) I really appreciate the simple feel of these. I don't like having to sacrifice the feel simply because it's an adjustable dummbbell, and these don't force you into that tradeoff. The adjustments are simple: there is a rotary knob with weight labels on each end of each dummbell. Simply click the selector to the amount of weight you want, then lift the dummbell. So easy, a former meathead (myself) can do it! If you're looking for something that will get the job done, you can buy any weights. If you want something that makes you feel like you got what you paid for, but will also be a superior piece of equipment, get these. They cost more than the others, and the reasons why are extremely easy to see as soon as they are unboxed. ... show more
