Not sure what the science is behind it, but this pattern seems to burn better than the ones with just a spread circle pattern. Maybe it's the turbulence created by the irregular teardrop shaped cutouts. Who knows. I just know that the pellets seems to burn hotter, with less ash using this adapter in my Solo Campfire Stove. Very tempted now to pick up the Solo Mesa XL Tabletop Fire Pit, since this also fits that model. I've found the best performance is not when filled to the top with pellets, but leave a bit of wall to help protect the initial burn from wind. And add a scoopful if needed. ... show more

This fits my campfire solo stove perfectly. There are ample holes to allow air flow but they are small enough to keep pellets in place.
