  • Big problem: Doesn't track the actual status of the lock

I was pretty excited to add this lock to my smart home system. For the most part it works great. The TTLock app is easy to use and it integrated with Alexa with no problem. The mechanism is quiet and the lock/unlock functions work pretty well (once I had to tell it to unlock twice because the deadbolt did not completely disengage the first time). But there is a HUGE flaw with this system. Neither the TTLock app or Alexa are able to tell the real status of the lock. What I mean is that if you use either app to lock/unlock the unit, everything is in sync. But if you physically turn the deadbolt to lock or unlock, the apps don't know that the lock changed state. I've gotten used to asking Alexa if the door is locked right before bed. But if someone manually unlocked the door sometime during the day, I get the wrong answer. Last night I went to bed thinking everything was fine. This morning I wake up to find that the front door was unlocked all night! I tried every combination of locking/unlocking the door with both apps and manually. It is very clear that turning the lock physically is completely ignored. So from now on, instead of asking if the door is locked, I will have to tell the app to lock the door explicitly. The problem with this is that it will burn through the batteries faster than just checking the status. Plus why have a function that just doesn't work? I can never trust that the apps know whether it is locked or not. ... show more

I installed this lock a little over 2 months ago, and until now things have been going well. However, about a week ago, the lock quit being able to lock and unlock itself. The manual lock works fine, but the motor seemed to be weak. I assumed this was just bad batteries and swapped them, but still no luck. I'm giving 3 stars because I loved the lock while it was working, but now its useless to me. Update 6/13/2023 Customer service reached out and gave me a refund. Lock is still broken, but the fact that they refunded the order made up for it. I installed a similarly priced lock from the orange box store, and it's working great ... show more

Happy with product and customer service was great. Lock and app is easy to use - unlocks with keypad, timed auto lock, locks/unlocks with app, and overall just simple to use. Brought this lock in July 2022, installiation was a little annoying but I think it was because of the door itself and not the lock. But after 8 months, day one out of no where, it stopped working - mainly locking/unlocking. After checking connection with gateway, battery replacement, and resetting - we relaized it was a broken motor. Reach out to customer service and after 48 hours (time difference) of back and forth - confirming amazon purchase and providing video proof the lock is broken, SMONET is sending out a replacement. ... show more

Bought this lock in November of 2021. Worked great for a few months and then all of a sudden the deadbolt locked and unable to unlock it without taking it apart. The pin that controls the deadbolt keeps falling out. After a few times of repeating this, the pin has fallen somewhere within the housing of the lock and unable to locate it. Now the front door is unable to be unlocked, forcing us to use the garage. 8/30/22 After leaving my previous review, I was contacted by the company who offered a replacement or refund. I selected to receive a replacement and the new lock seems to be working fine as of this review. However, the last lock worked fine for several months until the issue began happening. Hopefully, this lock will not have the same issue. However, the customer service was fantastic and hassle free. They went out of their way to make sure I was taken care of. ... show more

  • Very poor instructions, would not work.

I was able to physically install it without much trouble in spite of the instructions. However when I got to the part where I have to pair the lock to my cell phone I could never get it to see the lock. You are supposed to press a key to activate it, but no sound and no light and nothing in the directions to indicate I should see or hear something. I can only assume it is dead. I even tried a second set of batteries. It being a Sunday, I had to reinstall the old lock until I can contact support. Update: Eventually I connected the lock parts on my desktop and proceeded to trouble shoot. I was able to get it working, presumably by pressing the reset button, which is only available when the keypad(outside half) is removed, which means the whole unit is removed. I highly recommend any new buyers also connect the parts and set it up before installing it on the door. Also set up the gateway and connect it with Alexa or Google before installing it. No sense in having your door unlocked or open the whole time you're trying to figure out the setup. I had to update the gateway (two tries) before I could see the "remote unlock" setting. update#2: After installing it again, I still had trouble getting it to power up. Turns out, the plug for the cable that connects the two sides was loose and was coming apart as I installed the last side. I had to route the cable such that pressure would be pushing it into the connector, and it started working. ... show more
